Nope, not neccessarily. They are old and bottom of the line as far as mags go.

Are they worth $100? I will be going through Wendell this weekend and could possibly get them if still available. I have never heard maggies before.

Yeah, I'd put 'em in the $200-$250 range- deffinitely worth it if they're working (and you're ok with the maggie concept).

fyi...I emailed the seller and asked them if they are functional. He said yes but that one of them sounds "a little flat." Ehhh. I'll pass.

Yeah, that does sound like a pass... it's not like you can swap out a driver for $30. Oh well.

No, but you can get some 3M glue and fix the sucker for about $5 and a couple hours of effort. All in all, if you are thinking about maggies, get the MMG and return it after 30 days if it's not your cup of tea.

I wouldn't spend $100 on a pair of 20+ year old Magnepan, especially those in particular. Magnepans are a little trickier to buy/invest in than a conventional speaker.

There are some that are easily fixed and some that require shipment back to the factory to the tune of 300-900 for a rebuild, no thanks.

I concur with James, pick up some MMG's if you want to try something out, as they are IMO, one of the best values in audio and risk free.

Fwiw, one sounding a little flat could be just a blown fuse, the tweeter section is fused.
