- SPEAKERS NO LONGER FOR SALE -

Sadly I don't have room to store these anymore. Cabinets have some corner damage from previous owner but drivers are in excellent shape and they sound great. In the three years I have owned them they've been used for the occasional HT use only, never abused. I prefer local pickup (Los Angeles area) due to their size and weight. E-mail for additional details. Thanks!

Yes, they do look sweet. That is honestly why I originally bought them. However I have to admit the 3000's sound 3X better. Maybe I just didn't have enough juice to power them (only 105W/ch.) They really come alive at high volume. The 3000's sound tremendous at any volume!

I've never got to hear the 3000's, but I like the RTA series alot.
I wonder if the 15's sound 1.875x better than my RTA 8TL's. If they do they should really rock with about 200 watts going to them.

I know that my RTA-8T's rock with 205 watts going into them! I was so impressed, I decided to keep them till they die, then replace them.

Yeah, as of right now, my 8TL's are my favorite Polks. That should change when my SDA's have the tweeters upgraded and if I can find the time the crossovers, too.

Yeah, I really like my RTA-11t's that's why I've kept them for 20 years.....I think they sound fantastic. I guess I'm afraid to change, LOL. I've always wanted to try a pair of 15's but never had a chance to get them locally. Someone buy these!!!!!

I wish I could go on a roadtrip to Cali, I'd send him a MO right now, just based on what I know about the RTA series.

I can't see me letting go with my 8TL's anytime in the near future(say 20-30 years).

I have owned the 15tl's and loved them. They image way better than the 11tl's. I have owned the 8t's and 11t's as well. I prefer the 8t over the 11t or 11tl's. I replaced my 15tl's with the RT3000p. IMO, the 3000P is in a totally different ball park. Not at all fatiguing and a lot tighter with the bass. I still wish I hadn't sold my 15tl's, if you are near LA, you should grab them.

Wow... you guys are making me want to hold on to them. I just don't have space! I should get a house sooner and hook these back up as my 2-ch music setup with a nice big amp!

As much as I would love to drive out to get 'em, it's just not feasible, seeing that I work 70 hrs/week.

The smart move would be to keep 'em and store them in a climate controlled environment til you have the space/amp to use them properly. It's just to damn hard to replace nice gear that you know the history of. You've got a nice set of Polk history.

    Keep 'em!!!!!

Now you're talking! I would love to have them providing you could take a road trip here to Boston, dropping them off & taking my 8T's with you to make a quick stop in MD to drop them off to my brother & then you can go home!:D

However, if you can't do all that, then I suggest you keep em!:D

Okay so I had never done an A-B comparison with the speakers so I did just that. I popped in some CDs, cranked it up and I was plesantly surprised... I like the sound of the RTA's better! Besides the obvious advantage of the powered subs the 3000's just had me wanting something more... felt like something was missing. Not to discount their sound, they sound great but something about the 15's was just... better. To sum up my thoughts:
RT3000P's - Exceptional low-end response, crisp detailed highs.
RTA15TL's - Phenomenal mid-bass, verm 'warm' and 'full' sound.
I guess those two subjective terms are what make me like the 15's better for 2-ch music. Still think the 3000's are better for HT use however, can't have the best of both worlds. So it looks like I'm going to hang on to them! Need a dedicated amp for them now... how much power can they handle anyway?... can't seem to find the specs. Thanks for all your comments and helping me realize the treasure in these old gems!
