    The dump tradition is one of the better things about living in New England! :-)

    In all the time I have been here, " parsimonious " has to be the BIGGEST word that I have seen used. Nice one, Mark!

    Studying for the National Spelling be are we? Almost no one has over a 50K vocabulary in any case, and most Americans 'far' less than that--probably about 10-15K if they are 'lucky'. And many lucky slobs...hardly more the 5K? We have a wonderful educational system for that!

    And, of course, very very few of them are fluent in a second language, let alone more. But hey, this is not a day to diss ourselves! Reading is where one builds vocabulary...and ipods, media, the internet, youtube, etc. Don't do that.

    Hitachi HMA-7500MKII Power Amp, Class AB, Single MOSFETs pair per channel with VU meters to boost. :D

    Very Sweet Sounding and Clean Power to push LSi25 with ease at 4 ohms setting. I am guessing it's manufactured around mid 70s to early 80s.

    More tales from the low rent side of town: This HH Scott 342-C (fairly early US made solid state Scott FM receiver, ca. 1970) was found on the scrap metal pile at our town dump by me years ago. It was missing its mains fuse and fuse holder cap. I've always assumed it was a basket case. Tonight I decided to put a fuse and cap on it and bring it up on a Variac, fully expecting the worst. Son of a gun works.

    Nice "space age", modular solid state engineering inside. Remember when stuff looked like this...?

    Hitachi HCA-7500MKII Preamplifier. A lot of goodies in a small chassis. Sounds? Not Levinson but very refined sound from this little preamp.

    Onkyo Grand Integra P-308 Preamplifier! Looks like it came back from Pawn of some sort with tons of dirt and old wax inside but cleaned out to be very nice unit. It has two sets of preamp outputs so you can use two amps with it (perfect for my M-510 and M-508) to bi-amp a pair of hard to drive speakers.

    I do not know and it puzzles me too. I don't have schema for it so I can't answer for sure. But I am guessing some of the gangs may be wired in parallel for smaller attenuation at louder volume to match the lower Powered HMA-7500MKII amplifier. It's probably Hitachi attempt to match the volume / gain ratio between the amp and the pre.

    Oops....I forgot! It's stereo / mono pre.
