What's the buzz about?

Hey guys,
Quick question. My mom had some horrible speakers and I replaced with some baby advents that I picked up at a garage sale for $20.00. She loved em. Now she says that one of the speakers has a buzz to it. Any ideas on how to fix, other than to replace the cheap speakers? What could be causing the buzz? I would love to buy her some polk's, but I can't force myself to part with one of my pair and I cannot afford to buy her a used pair. If I can't salvage the advent's any recomendations on decent used speakers?
Thanks,
David

A "buzzing" could easily be a bad driver, crossovers RARELY go bad.

The easiest way to troubleshoot a speaker, is to use the other speakers' drivers.

Swap drivers, with the other speaker, theres only 2 of them, if it goes away, problem identified.

If it doesn't go away bring the speakers home, and see if they "buzz" on your gear.

Troubleshooting is not hard. It's not always a big issue, most loudspeaker problems are easy, it's when you think to much that it gets difficult.

Another thing to look at is the foam surrounds, they rot and can cause the driver to buzz.

Agree with doro... but before swapping drivers, try swapping speaker wires to eliminate your electronics as a source...
