Hi I'm wondering what direction I should aim for a receiver for a 5.1 package of Polk rm7200's? I want a Harman Kardon because I love its cosmetic looks and from what I understand H/K is a top of the line brand so it also has the matching quality. I'm a little worried about the power though(watts per channel) the speakers say they can handle up to 125 watts each, people say look for a receiver with at least about 85 watts per channel. The HK recievers start at 40 and then for a midrange from HK, say an avr330 is about 55 watts a channel. I know they are very considerate and true to accuracy on they're power ratings but is this gonna be sufficient do you guys think? I hear when you have to turn the volume up more with lower wattage you lose sound quality(forget the exact way I have heard it). Thanks for any input.

HK is conservative in there ratings. There watts are not inflated like most other brands. They also have a high current rating. I wouldn't hesitate buying an HK.Epson 8100

that will be more than enough power to drive those speakers...

Yes, a 330 or even a 230 should run the rm7200 nicely (and if you can afford it certainly go for more power). Also if you want to go 6.1 or 7.1 there have been a lot of rm7200 pairs on ebay lately going pretty cheap.
With the HK receivers just make sure you have plenty of room (where you plan to place it)...they do runner hotter than most other brands and need to have lots of breathing room.system 1:

Thank you very much for your opinions. I will probly be getting an Hk 230 or maybe 330 on Ebay from HK direct (factory remanufactured) since they are a really good deal. If I think of more questions I'll post them. Thanks againPolk RM7200

Bringing back an old post.. I bought a set of rm7200's off ebay used. Seller said they were in excellent condition although upon receiving them I was very unhappy with the condition I got them in. The sub has a damaged corner, where the wood is on the bottom that the sub sits on. I think this probly happened in shipping but it looks like it will only effect it cosmetically. The satelites are also not in good condition IMO since they are chipped on the corners and the cones are pushed in on a few of them which I am most concerned about. I didn't have insurance on the shipping and I emailed the guy back about it but he never responded and I was not able to get in touch with him when I emailed him about the condition of them. I'm wondering will the speakers be ok with the cones pushed in as far as how they work and sound, and is there a way to get them out? Also I haven't used them yet because I don't have a receiver yet but I'm probly gonna buy an H/K AVR-230 off ebay from H/K direct as a factory refurb for around 260 plus 20 shipping. Do you guys think this receiver will go good with these speakers and should my speakers work ok in the condition they are in? Thank you very much for any help/advice. I'll try to post some pictures here.. not sure how to do this, do the pictures need to be hosted on a site. If so where could I do this? Thanks againPolk RM7200

The speakers will work ok and should sound good on an HK receiver. The base can be purchased through Polk for the sub as can the drivers if you want to replace any.

An HK 235 or 335 would be plenty enough power.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.
