Biamping RTi8's?
I just got a new Pioneer VSX1014tx-k and it is capable of biamping. I guess my question is, is it safe to biamp the RTi8's, is the sound quality that much better and do you keep the volume the same on both channels? I guess that I'm a little leary about blowing up my speakers. By the way the amp is 110 watts a channel.

there was a recent discussion on here about someone bi-amping a yamaha receiver. Do a search on variations of bi-amp and see what you come up with.
In short, it depends on how your receiver bi-amps the two sets of posts, but usually if it involves using the A and B speaker terminals, then its not worth doing and can actually be a downgrade... -
Actually, a search for bi-amping probably wouldn't return this result...so here's that other thread I was talking about...

Just so everyone knows:
Pioneer UK
Model: VSX-1014-K
Front L & R Bi-Amplifier Function: Yes
I couldn't find the manual, but I did get a back-panel diagram. Looks like the surround back channels may be used for optionally bi-amping the front speakers, or something like that (an arcam amplifier has this feature).
In that case, as you have separate channels and speakers that can handle biamping. Give it a try, and let us know how it works.
If you can adjust the tweeter volume, you would do that to balance the tweeter against the mains to your tastes (going lower in volume on the tweeter, not higher).
As for blowing up your speakers, that would depend on how far you turn up the volume. How far is too far? I don't know. There should be people on this board who bi-amp and can give a better answer than me.
Lets see RTi8s are max 250w, you should probably be okay if you don't go above 2/3 volume. And if you hear any distortion or clipping, that is too far.
Over in the UK, do you get the 5 year warrantee on polks?Win7 Media Center -> Onkyo TXSR702 -> Polk Rti70 -
I also own the VSX-1014, and I am using it to bi-amp my front speakers until I get a separate amp for them. Once you make the proper connections from the receiver, you will need to go into the on-screen-display and select the "bi-amp" option from the "Surround Back System" menu.
You will not need to worry about balancing the volume. Once you select the bi-amp option, the receiver will do the rest. -
Does it make enough difference in sound to make it worth the change?Arcam DiVa AVR300 Receiver

It made a difference for me. I own a pair of RTi12's, and I wanted to get more power to them until I get an amp. So, bi-amping is the only option I have until then.
I would suggest trying it to see if you like it. Some people think it is a waste of time, but it all boils down to personal preference.
