....should I say the mexican radio is on me.

I have a pair of RT3000 mains which for some reason are picking up a mexican radio station.
I have them plugged into a Monster HTS 2000 surge protector that I thought would remove any RF signals,
but you can hear it pretty clear when the subs are on but no audio signal,
(when everything else is off as in right after watching a movie).

Any suggestions?

I mean, other than learning spanish

Do you have a receiver or seperates? Sometimes receivers will "bleed" fm signals.

wouldn't it only bleed if he had that station tuned in?

... but it is only really noticeable when everything, receiver included, is turned off.

Seems like the sub amps are picking this up from somewhere. Because there is nothing coming out of the non powered speakers atop the subs.
I have a dedicated 20amp breaker to the theater, and I never noticed anything when I was running the RT1000's

Unplug your cable company coaxial from the MC 2000 and see if that problem goes away.

Yeah, what doro said, start removing wires/cables, and isolate when the problem stops.

Its a problem with the sub amp. It seems to like to pick up a radio station in some areas. Call up customer service and see if they have any of the upgraded amps lying around.

....but don't know how to remedy it.
when the sub amp clicks on it stays on for about 5 minutes even after I shut the main amp off. This of course is normal.
that is when I hear the radio signal.

I found the only way to stop the radio signal is to unplug the black speaker wire to the sub amp.

The main amp I'm using to power the sub does not have a tuner, so no bleeding in of signal. I do not have a cable radio/tv connection.

I unplugged the speaker leads and used a rca cable from the preout main on the main amp, to the line in on the sub amp. The radio signal is back again.

I think it must be the sub amp as was suggested by bknauss and ohskigod.

Any other suggestions, or should I just contact C.S. ?

According to Ken, the best remedy is take out the amps and mail them to Polk.

Is this a straight forward bolt out - bolt in procedure?

    Thanks,

Contact CS but one thing you can try is using a 2-prong extension cord to eliminate the ground line in your power cord. (By only plugging in the two spades and not the prong. If your power cord does not have three prongs, that also could be an issue.

You have a grounding issue somewhere in the system. Either the power cord or the sub cable. Withe the sub cable unplugged does it happen? Perhaps your recieve isn't grounded causing it and the cable to become an antenna. Lots of stuff to check, just go one step at a time.

I don't think this is a grounding issue... the amp is just susceptible to other signals. The following wasn't true when the RT3000p's came out, but UL has cracked down on electronic emissions and susceptibility (shooting out RF noise that might be picked up both other electronics or not rejecting RF noise that might be sent out by other electronics). There were some Class T car amps that were having the same problem as the RT3000P's a couple of years ago, except it was much more noticable.

    Just an update....

I emailed Ken and he authorized shipping the amps to POLK San Diego.
They shipped me the newer updated version 3 amps.
I just installed them, and I'm grooving.

Yea, the subs are pretty sick. I wish the LFE channel wasn't a dedicated channel for DVDs or I wouldn't need a sub.

Have you tried hooking up the LFE line into the subs? I also run a dedicated sub as well, but was wondering about the LFE imput.

Haven't tried the using the RT3000P subs for the LFE channel since I like them being full range. I'll just put up the money for a sub at a later time.
