or pick up a late model lotus in the old body style... the whole diablo look they had going... that'd be sweet!MacLeod: I guess youre lucky Polk has such lax hiring standards.
Josh: Damn skippy! -
I think we can rule out the exotics guys...it would be cool, but let's keep it real.
The Lotus Elise suggestion was excellent, price is higher than an atypical ride, but I'm sure the legwork could be done on Polk's side to get that price down and make it more attractive for the project
The Elise is a showstopper in stock format.
The sheep like new stuff, but I agree, an old school Lotus would be pretty nice.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Though the new Elise would probably be more eye-catching.....
A fully loaded 2005 Lotus Elise in Chrome Orange with a hard top, the touring package, and the sports package costs $48,230.
Sounds good to me!!:DGeorge Grand wrote: »

I like the Jag idea or Aston Martin. Those are very classy and low key. I think this would be a good way to go cause most demo cars are as flashy as they can be. I think it would be cool to have something very subtle and smooth and let the audio components do the talkin'!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Yaman. A front end only a mother could love, but it grabs immediate attention, is rarely seen on the show circuit, modified no less...thus perfect IMO.
It could also ride the wave of the new GT40....similar in looks to the sheep.

that would DEFINITELY grab attention

Hey, Josh; I've got a question....
What do you do with all these project cars y'all have? Do you keep 'em? Do you have 'em in some big warehouse somewhere? Do you loan 'em out to Polk employees for the weekend? And what do you do with them after they're old and out of style and don't do anything for Polk anymore; sell 'em?George Grand wrote: »

yes it is, the esprit was the model before the elise, production on them stoped last year, you can find some of the 2000 models for around 50k, the last production year goes for closer to 100k thoughMacLeod: I guess youre lucky Polk has such lax hiring standards.

What does this mean? You sayin' the Elise ain't to great of a sports car?! Well,...lemme tell ya......:o
The Lotus Elise is truly a one-of-a-kind car. I weighs under 2,000 (1975) pounds, making it drive like no other car on this earth. Ware and tare are hugely minimized due to its low weight. Everything in the ****-pit is trimmed in aluminum, and the steering wheel, tranny, and clutch have an awesome kind of precision about them. It also hugs the road like nothing else. It can do the 600-ft slalom (which, for those of you who don't know is basically doing consecutive emergency lane changes for 600-ft) at 73.8 miles per hour. That means you can be doing over 70mph down the highway and swerve into the other lane to miss a deer and keep the car under control! To put that in perspective, the new C6 Corvette can only do the 600-ft slalom at 66.2mph!! The $250,000 Ferrari Challenge Stradale can only do it at 71mph. The Prosche Carrera GT that goes for $500,000 - does it at 72.3mph. The $600,00+ Ferrari Enzo can only do it at 71mph!!
And, this work of art does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds on a 4 cylinder makin' 190hp.
Clearly, this is a modern marvel of technology; a vehicle that deserves every title its won and likely many more. A true, undiluted car, available here in America.....for less than $50,000!!!
I know what car I want if I can ever get some money.....George Grand wrote: »

OK, stop.
The Elise does not have room for a stereo of any kind. It's also almost 60K in the states and they are hard to come by because they are pretty much spoken for at this point. They aren't a show car by any means. They are factory race cars for the most part and not suited at all for what needs to be done to it to meet the needs of Polk Audio.
The Esprit is no longer in production. It was killed off last year. The only way it will stay is in Europe only but it's an outdated platform so it's going the way of the dodo. On top of that, it's an 80-90K car. Totally out of the price range. Even used you'd have to get a 6 year old car to get below 50K.
Another option is to get a Range Rover or Land Rover Discovery and trick that out. The lower end Jags are snazzy and would work out great too. The Astons, unfortunatly, are too expensive for this venture. Another possibility is a Volvo. They have that hot little station wagon which is defintly different. You could also do a Saab which is way different. Just some other options.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

LOL, no problem man, I'm on board with your suggestion.
Jstas is dead-on, the Lotus Espirit or Aston Martin won't work, and it's a silly suggestion, albeit cool. The suggestions should be real world, as in don't go crazy....the $ amount was mentioned previously, why keep on adding to the amount?
Range Rover/ Volvo/ Saab just don't do it for me, but it would be fresh. The problem with those cars is that they are easily forgotten. The styling on them is generic, and with aftermarket work, most of the time they just don't move aesthetically.

-I can handle some of the questions. The cars like the WRx and the Civic stick in Baltimore unless they're at a training event or a show or a photo shoot.
-Polk employees aren't supposed to drive them around... but some people like to take them out when their car is just sitting on the lift... wish I was a rock star like some people.
As for choosing a car, I like the Lotus idea. I also like more of the refined luxury idea. I'm sort of in the middle. 350Z or G35 should be out of the question IMO since its already been done 1000000000000000000000 times. Old news... would like to see something new.Brian Knauss

I agree with dorokusai; the Saab/Volvo/Range Rover/Land Rover doesn't appeal to me at all. If the Lotus won't work, then I still like the Jag idea.George Grand wrote: »

Go look at one IN PERSON and then tell me where all the places are that you think you could fit ANY kind of audio equipment whatsoever.
The damn thing doesn't even have a suitable trunk! It's a go-kart for the street. It's a production race car. It's not a show car in any way, audio or otherwise.
I'm a huge fan of the Elise and if I had the $55K asking price that the dealer wanted for them up here in Jersey, I'd be first in line. Even I can see reality though and realize that the Elise is not about a stereo. It's not about comfort, it's not about luxury. It's balls to the wall performance! It's meant to be driven and everyone I have spoken to in Europe and Australia about Elises has said that one of teh first things to go is the stereo...if your Elise happen to come with one.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
