If you mean a good morning album. Hotel California seems to be picking me up nicely.
Now I'm ready to go CD shopping. SDA-2a, Anthem Pre-2L, Anthem Amp 1, MF A324 DAC, Rotel RCD1070
Senn HD650 Cardas, Mapletree Audio Ear+ HD2, Kimber KS1030, Bel Canto DAC2, M-Audio Transit, Laptop. -
Not Ed Zachery...
More like two songs joined at the hip forming a medley...
Easy one from your native land would be The Guess Who's "No Sugar Tonight/ New Mother Nature".
Often the "two songs" are presented separated with a slash between them in the song list...More later,

Not quite what you're looking for but how about... Neil Young - Down by the River and Cowgirl in the Sand? They always seem to be presented together. They will kick off the to be released Greatest hits in November.
The only medley you speak of that I can think of is Mother Love Bone - Chloe Dancer/Crown Thorns. It's a good one too.

RUSH 2112, the overture. I hate to listen to just one part of the overture, I really have to hear the entire overture.Rocky Bennett

2112 is pretty much the ultimate.

And the local boys, Mother Love Bone, that's an excellent one.
Couple more...
Van Halen: Eruption/You Really Got Me
Judas Priest: The Hellion/Electric Eye
Dunno if it counts, but Green Grass and High Tides Forever from the Outlaws is just awesome.Just... Bonham

Crosby and Nash from their self titled 1971 album..."Where Will I Be?/Page 43". Probably my favorite.
Actually one of those was part of a medley on Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's Four Way Street. The entire medley was "The Loner/Cinnamon Girl/Down By The River". Of course performed by Neil.Originally posted by dcarlson

Another great medley from that same album performed by Stephen Stills was "49 Bye-Byes/America's Children"
For what it's worth, IMO the entire side 2 of the Beatles Abbey Road is a medley.
And then of course there are the medleys that were made famous in my RRR thread for Barry Manilow - Live.
"Very Strange Medley"....Six min. of a medley of his commercial jingles from Burger King, State Farm, Pepsi, Stridex, Dr. Pepper, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Band-Aids. And "Jump Shout Boogie Medley" an eight min. medley which included "Jump Shout Boogie/Avenue C/Jumpin' at the Woo", and ended up with the theme from American Bandstand "Bandstand Boogie" (actually quite good). And last but not least...."It Could Be Magic/Mandy". "Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais
"For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible." - Stuart Chase
"Consistency requires you to be as ignorant today as you were a year ago." - Bernard Berenson -
Damn, shack-daddy, that's it... I'm resurrecting the RnRR threads as soon as daylight savings goes bye-bye....
I've missed reading your music posts...
Thanks, trm and Bonham... I've had Rush's "Chronicles" for over a year and it's yet to see the light of day... 2112 is there on disk #1, so it's up next...2112 is pretty much the ultimate.More later,

If you don't have it, get the actual 2112 album. Chronicles only has a little less then a third of the full 2112. It's slightly more then 20 minutes long.Originally posted by Tour2ma

Never cared for the studio rendition of 2112 (although I've been a huge Rush fan for over 20 years). The live version on "All the World's A Stage" is decent (although not very well recorded a missing a movement of the piece), but the live version on "Different Stages" kicks!
Other medleys that come to mind are:
"Heartbreaker/Livin' Lovin' Maid" (it always kills me when the local radio stations cut it after Heartbreaker...they flow together so well and there is not a full tracking space between them)
and
"Days of Graduation/Ronnie and Neil" from Drive By Truckers "Southern Rock Opera" I know not many have heard this but I think it just rocks.
And since all concept albums (such as The Wall and about everything done pre 1980 by the likes of Genesis, Yes, ELP etc...) seem to be full of medleys I'll throw out another one. There is a band of Portland Oregon called "The Decemberists" that have 3 CDs out, one of which is a concept EP called "The Tain" which has 5 movements. Brilliant stuff...reminds me of a mix between "Abbey Road" and early King Crimson.

Here's an oldie...
Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, "Devil in the Blue Dress/ Good Golly Miss Molly"
And a more up to date, if 1980 can be considered "up to date", personal favorite, albeit more obscure:
The Kings, "This Beat Goes On/Switching to Glide" (off of "... Are Here")... Great stuff...

without a doubt and without exception, the greatest medley of all time is the second side of the Beatles album "Abbey Road". With songs like You never Give Me Your Money", "Golden Slumbers" and "The End"......who can touch them. Great playing and simply awesome singing, especially by McCartney. I was just listening to it last night and I never cease to be amazed by the talent those guys displayed in playing it, much less writing it. An absolute masterpiece. Can there ne any doubt that they are the greatest rock group of all time? Not by me there aint!Music and Movie Rig

...as an honorable mention:
Robert Palmer's "Sailin' Shoes/Hey Julia/ Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" from his first album.
Also, man.... umm, like, don't forget the Dead's "St. Stephen -> The Eleven" on Live/Dead, either.
The aforementioned Journey 'medley' is a fine one, too.
Of course, the suite that ends Abbey Road (and, indeed, ends the Beatles legacy) is the winner, at least in the R&R category. -
I am embarrassed that that Palmer (RIP) trio escaped me... more than HM worthy, IMO...
"Sneakin' Sally... " was one of the very few Playboy review based buys I made that I was thrilled to own...
