Does that make me a bad person?
If I knew jack **** about speakers, i would add something. Until I do, I'll keep my mouth shut.

My area's of expertise:
Mac Hardware and Software
Color Management and Workflow Design
DSM and Subaru performance
Women (pretty much all of them)

If I can help in these areas, let me know. Hopefully after many months of review, I will become a Polk expert.

System as of now:
Mitsubishi 55809 HDTV
Motorola HD tuner
Yamaha HTR 5660
JVC progressive scan DVD
Kenwood CD player
Polk CSi30 center
Polk RTi28 fronts
Bostons HD 9 surrounds
RCA rear center

Looking for some new fronts (RTi70s), maybe a new center (CSi40, moving CSi30 to rear). Got to get the wife to buy in to the idea. I feel kinda silly having 4K worth of gear and only $500 worth of speakers.

If you see me logged in to the forum your on, just remember, Your being watched!

Brian

    hey Brian,

Welcome aboard. I used Macs for about 7 years before I switched to windows and I remember having a lot less problems and frustrations with computers. if Windows PCs wouldn't be so damn inexpensive I'd still own a Mac. Can you still just replace the System Folder to cure just about all problems in one quick drag and drop? That was the coolest.

Feel free to keep lurking, but come out and join the fun. That is what this place is supposed to be.

Lots of stuff to learn. Use the search feature to read up or just ask.

I was going to say something slightly obnoxious, but Shack said it much nicer than I could have. I will say this, save the machismo for boards that you are absolutely sure are populated by men only.

    BK,

    Welcome to the forum.

This question is all in fun, how old are you that you think and I say think, that you know pretty much all of them???

What percentage of HT vs music do you listen to and what is it about your present speakers that you don't like?

Ok ok. So I should have said "areas of interest" rather than "areas of expertise". But the 2 rules I live by with women:
    1. When I was single- Be confident. Even if your a freak, be a confident freak. Some chick, somewhere, will be into a freak like you. If your too nervous to talk to her, you'll stay freaky, and also very alone.
    2. Now that I'm married- Use this phase as much as possible: "Yes Dear. Anything you want, Dear."

ATCVenom- about the Mac user thing: I have used a Mac for about 13 or 14 years and have never run any virus protection. Let go of the Dark Side. :D

F1- I'm 31. See above for the rest of your question.
F1 part 2- I'd give it 80-20. I do enjoy a good listen to 2 channel audio, but it's hard to find the time to do it anymore. I mostly watch movies and HD programming if something good is on.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I will try to contribute where and when I can. Thanks also for all the help, past, present and future.

    BK,

Your answer #2 is good, you'll go far...lol

So, what is it about your present speakers that you don't like? Without knowing that and going by your 80/20 answer I would suggest you look into the new RTi series or the LSi series as both seem to me to be designed more for HT than music.

F1: I forgot to reply to your 3rd question: Nothing really sounds "together". I dont feel involved in the movie the way I'd like to. Part of that comes from the different spreaker in the front vs. the back. The Bostons are great little speakers, but they do not sound right with the Polks in the front. The RCA rear center is basically junk. I bought the RTi28's and the CSi30, with the intention they would become the rear channels when I had enough spare change to buy the front soundstage. Then I bought a new car, then a new house, and I'm fresh out of spare change! It's getting harder and harder to find RTi70s and CSi40s for sale. When they do come up, they go quick. When I get settle in the the new house, I'll make a real effort to get thing the way I want them, wife willing.

I also forgot my favorite non-Polk piece of audio gear in my first post: my Velodyne CT12. Sweet boom boom yummys!
