For the heck of it if anyone hear gets them post the winner, unless you all feel that might start a debate and hard feelings. I wish I was able to get the other half to understand why I need more speakers
(especally these ones).

Dave, just bag them and swap out with your existing. The whiff won't be able to tell the difference. The 1000's kick out a huge soundfield."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

Man I wish those e-bay sellers would give us first shot at it.I would probably pay a little more just so I dont have to compete with everybody.I hate waiting 3-10 days for auctions to close just to find out that you were outbidded at the last minute!:(Old School stuff

As far as these specific speakers go I noticed them before this thread and I know the seller says they're black but it's difficult to tell that from the pix. The backs look black but the fronts sure don't. -
looks like bad lighting ...they look black to meLife without music would♭

From what I understand that if you watch and bid on the last 15 minute rule you have a good chance of winning.I have lost out on alot of bids because I'm not next to a computer at work and cant watch it in real time when the auction closes.I've lost out on bids ranging from $2.50 to$100.00.Sometimes the BUY it NOW is a good way to go if the item is rare and you really WANT it but as far as the FX1000's go you really wont see that much activity until the last hour or so.Most of the pepole who want these will stay in the shadows quietly until the last minute.I hate that!:(Old School stuff

Sorry about that ... But I'm undoubtedly one of the ones who contributes to this sort of thing ...
Intelligent sellers usually set up their auctions to end in the evening when even more people can participate in this sort of thing, especially for items like this.
This seller hasn't done that ... but it does conclude on a Saturday I believe. -
A lot of Ebay users are using "bid sniping" services that place bids on their behalf in the last few seconds of an auction using high speed servers. If someone uses a service like this they pay a fee to the provider if they win the item. The services are legitimate bidding tools.
I take a different approach and just use the proxy bidding system. Usually if I see something I'm really interested in, I'll find out what the relative value is by seeing what identical or similar items have sold for recently, adjusting the price I'd be willing to pay according to the condition of the item. I'll then set the maximum amount I'd spend on the item, use Ebay's proxy bid system, and forget about it until the auction closes. The amount I'd plug in would be something odd like $701.11. Usually, my comfort level price has been enough the meet the reserve on items I have bid on. Once a reserve price has been met, the Buy it Now option on an Ebay item disappears.
A pair of the FX1000 speakers recently sold for about $676 on Ebay. If I had put in a bid of $701.11 on the speakers, I would have won the item assuming the bid sniper user didn't value the speakers more highly than the price I would have put in. If a sniper had been willing to pay $701 and put that amount in the bid sniping program, he would not have won the item. Bid sniping can be irritating because it seems like cheating, but snipers don't always win.
What irritates me about Ebay sellers sometimes is that they have their items listed in more than one place to sell and will sometimes pull items from sale shortly before an auction officially ends if they get a local off-line offer they like. Generally though, if someone sets a reserve price on Ebay and someone meets the reserve price the seller will be obligated to sell the item.
I'm not bidding on these speakers, but I know they are much in demand and the final price will probably be pretty high. No affiliation, but I think the current high bidder is a Club Polk member. -
I would like to get a pair, but the demand has driven up the prices. Money constraints are stopping me right now also.
-
I have the only bid on these as of current however i dont have the funds to bid up to $700.00 as i have seen these go up to in the past. i would like a pair of these as they would complete my system i recently got a killer deal on a pair of rt3000p and crystal clear sold me his cs1000 which should arrive tomorrow. has any one thought about trying to assemble a pair by ordering the parts from polk service. i wonder how much it would cost to go that route.
-
I was gonna say that I could go and pick them up for the winner if one of y'all were to win, but really $40 for shipping and packaging is a pretty good deal considering he doesn't have any original packaging.
That almost makes me wonder if he bought them as demo's, becuase even though I'm in an apartment, I have saved the factory boxes for every one of my speakers/audio electronics.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

I thought about doing that. I think you would need some information that is propietary in order to get the same performance.
I'm still considering it. The configuration they are in doesn't quite fit in my need (the cabinet is too tall). Now if I could roll the drivers 90 degrees... -

I am in the process of doing just that with the drivers and all from the RTi-38's. I will need to build the cabnets and some other items but will post as to the build process begins. I was in tuch with the seller of the 1000's and he will not take or make any offers for the speakers for a "buy now", seems fair given the fact that he might get more for them then could be offered. I would go to $500, but after that I think I can put a set together cheeper since I already have extra 38's setting here. I will need some help with dementions when the building starts Hopefully someone can and will offer it when needed.

I am not positive but i think you can buy the boxes from polk because i was inquiring about some parts for my cs1000 and they said a box could be bought for it.so can the grills etc etc.
-
i got the same response from the seller of the fx1000s he was kind of a jerk. here is his response.
"No, I will not do a Buy it Know on these speakers" -

I got the same exact response. I think he knows what he has and that would be only fair not to except an outside bid and I'm sure he has gotten alot of those requests but still he could have put it alittle more tactfully to incourage the bidding IMO.

i think i will wait for another pair to surface some where or some how. i would rather not do business with him.i got out bid and wont be rebidding.good luck to others.
-
You can get all the drivers, crossovers, terminations and build your own for under $350. Besides having great speaker, what fits better on the wall than a moosehead to show off your pride and joy, but for a pair of special edition fx1000s.
-
Wow thats it?Only $350 for the parts and then build your own cabinents. Not bad at all.Someone with woodworking skills should consider this idea and build CLONES for people since the real FX1000's are so hard to get.Maybe call them FX1050's??P.S I would buy 2 pairs if there were available at a reasonable price.Anyone listening?:eek:Old School stuff
