Read it again Ron, 330 k severe injuries, which means hospital beds. It isn't Corona alone crashing the hospital systems, it's on top of what they already have on their plate between flu, other chronic diseases, heart disease, etc. Beds always run short or close to it this time of year so anything that comes down the pile is going to challenge that systems capabilities.
Crashing the global economy is being done by choice and ignorance, sprinkle in a little unpreparedness too. Economies would not have crashed if China was open and honest about it from the start. If the WHO didn't ignore early warnings . The spread could have been contained much earlier.

For me, what's interesting, after some introspection, is that I never cared about the flu season before. Ignorant? Naive? Maybe. But the flu was something that happened, and you got through it.
Never got a flu shot. Except when we had mandatory flu shots while in the Military.
So going forward, will I change my behavior? Well, I'm not getting any younger. I'm in good health. But until next season, I have some time to think about it.

No point in trying to convince anyone. There have been hundreds of posts and there will be no convincing Tony and Jesse and some others about covid.
Just keep chugging along, better use of energy elsewhere.
And I hope Jesse and Tony are right in the end and this was all bloated.
Nobody needs to be convinced. We all accept that this thing is no joke. What we are saying is the over-hyped panic is ridiculous. The politicization of this is downright criminal, and given the track record displayed by our media and elected officials over the past 4 years breeds skepticism.
We are all in this together, and if we simply look out for one another, this too shall pass.

26 percent of all motor vehicle crashes are related to the use of cell phones. Each day, 11 teens die in crashes caused by texting and driving. 2.35 million people in the US are injured or disabled by car crashes every year. More than 330,000 of these crashes that cause severe injury are caused by texting and driving.Feb 19, 2019
Do the math, that's 4015 kids a year die from texting and driving....and we seem ok with that. Nobody is crying to disable cell phones while driving. Those 4k teens, expendable. 30-40-50k flu deaths, expendable. Medical malpractice deaths, and a whole cast of thousands more from various things, expendable. 500 CV deaths, oh heck no, close it all down. Does anyone see my point here ? We, as a society, don't give a rats behind about certain deaths, only the ones we can gather votes with. That's sad, real sad.
So true. As I've stated before on here, I've been hit 4 times by cell phone drivers. Twice in the same intersection. It is so dangerous and penalties should be much stiffer. It's probably the most disregarded traffic law in Illinois.

I also heard about millions being given to a politicians' wife for her homeless helping Organization. They asked her around 6 months ago where it went. She has no record keeping system so she can't tell the auditors anything.

I'm not saying it's a hoax. The overreaction is. Italy was playing politics and didn't take it seriously. Hug a Chinese ? Really ? That was their early policy while WE were banning travel from China. This is why we don't look like italy right now. That and their higher concentration of old folks more susceptible to the virus.

Going to the burger joint ( PT's Burgers) tonight, the streets were as bare as I've ever seen them here for over 34 years. Maybe just after a Hurricane passes over and we know it's maybe safe to drive around to assess damages around or communities. I have to cross a major thoroughfare for travelers going North or South along the coast to get to PT's burger joint. There's ALWAYS tons of traffic at 5 to 6PM. TONS! Not hardly a vehicle tonight.
It was SURREAL!
People are taking this seriously here! I think it's because there are SOOO MANY elderly and RETIRED people that live here now. OH, the college UNCW is closed also. That takes about 10 thousand cars off my local streets too.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
You left out why they are down for Monday. Because Democrats held up the passage of the 2 trillion dollar relief package to play politics in a time of crisis. I'm sure some more pork will be added to make it a 2.5 trillion package. What once had bipartisan support suddenly doesn't, and the markets reflect that.

I heard the Dems already wanted to give that abortion Co., Planned Parenthood, money in the previous draft but was denied. I'm not being pol., just talking what might be a fact pertaining a to funding expenditure Bill earmarked to help fight this virus BUT also included those pork spending tags that get mixed into the small print.
Just like Tony said earlier, if PP got a chunk of Fed. grant money with this Virus $$ bill, you better believe just like years before, people would be getting election donations when the time comes. Just Facts here. Proven historical facts. Both sides do it.
What we need is a ONE PARTY Government to help all Americans, right? I'll keep dreaming.

Going to the burger joint ( PT's Burgers) tonight, the streets were as bare as I've ever seen them here for over 34 years.
It was SURREAL!
People are taking this seriously here! I think it's because there are SOOO MANY elderly and RETIRED people that live here now. OH, the college UNCW is closed also. That takes about 10 thousand cars off my local streets too.

Of course you heard that, you have no proof but you are compelled to repeat it anyway.

One party government? Tried that in the USSR... no thanks.

I was going to add a little more but thought not to.
But here was my immediate after thought that I didn't add;
But we need 2 parties for sure. It's been this way for how long now?
One for people. So people can decide how they want to live.
The other will be for people who want the Gov. to run their lives.
