You realize that is a death rate of .01%, right?

No. I was surprised at the number of cases. Hopefully, the death rate will stay low, but I suspect at some point that it will be the same as the rest of the world.

Why, this is the USA, we will prevail and our per capita numbers will be kept in check as long as we keep our head on straight or you can act foolish like Germany..

Mr. Wieler is dutifully and aptly grave in delivering his assessments, but the problem for him, and for Germany in general, will be making the gravity of the global situation clear to his country's young. In Berlin, which is always ready for a party, its estimated 10,000 bars, clubs and restaurants are, as of March 19, still allowed to be open until 6 p.m.

The simply unabashedly young and the heedless among the hipoisie have been staging ad-hoc "Corona parties." This can be understood historically, under the rubric that Berlin—as a party town and now as the global capital of techno — has a devil-may-care attitude toward danger and a long-time flirtation with the Dark Side since the 1920s. But in the long run, or even within the steep spike of Covid-19 infections in the coming weeks, Corona parties will not do Berlin, or its tremendous asset of its effervescent youth, much good.

    Why are you surprised?

China lied about this for 3 months.

This has been out there around the globe since December when Taiwan warned the WHO about it and they ignored it.

The global infection rate is probably over 50% for the entire 7.7 billion people.

The deaths attributed to flu between December and now can probably skew a few thousand towards COVID-19 but this isn't the death sentence y'all are making it out to be.

These surprising jumps in infections are a misnomer when you realize that it's already spread and the infection rate is actually pretty slow.

The only real concern with this is that the population has no built up immunity to it. Not like the flu which the population is fairly resilient to despite flu shots.

The ones that do the most extensive testing and are the most invasive in tracking down the contacts of the positives have the lowest deathrates, like South Korea and Hong Kong. Germany seems to be one of the best, if not the best. Not sure how they are doing it.

    Math check ;) 300+ out of 23,000 is 1.3%.

I’m not surprised. And, as more are tested, I bet (and hope) it gets substantially lower. Stay healthy everyone!

Numbers don't always tell the whole story. Many countries differ in how they report cases and even deaths. Sometimes no test is given but contributed to the CV stats.

Regardless, the fact that our death count is so low should tell us something. Even with increased testing, the death count hasn't climbed like crazy.

I have no control over this site's HTML generation.

I also have no control over the development of Chrome and how it interprets the dynamic content generates by Vanilla which has shown itself to be lacking for some time now.

I'm even using one of the most common browsers out there with Chrome and it still has problems.
