Marantz ND8006

Soooo, Marantz went and did this: http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=hificomponents&ProductId=ND8006

I think I'll pick one up for my downstairs system soon. It looks like a great solution for an all-in-one. The HEOS app isn't perfect but it isn't bad either. I use it with my HEOS Link streamer and haven't seen a reason to replace it yet.

I've had several Marantz products in since picking them up and this is the first one I've been excited about in the last year. I hope its a formidable follow-up to the SA8005 and if it is, its a no brainer for an upgrade path given the extra features.

Damn that looks awesome. Seems like a good solution to combine the CD player/streamer. Might have to consider going down this route to at some point if it retains the typical Marantz quality

Too bad it doesn't play SACDs.

Good catch Jesse. For me that isn't an issue.

It also moved to the Sabre es9016 chip. It will be interesting to see their interpretation of the chip.

I was looking through the specs and noticed that. If it would play SACD's it would be a worthy purchase, I wonder why that feature was neglected?

The Marantz Japan site doesn’t list the SA8005 as being available, but the UK and USA sites still do. I wouldn't be be surprised if they ended production and are selling off exsisting SA8005 stock in certain markets.

Yea the prices have been pretty low on the 8005 for a while, seems they are liquidating remaining units

Unfortunately no. I've been moving up the ladder instead of laterally this year in preparation for AXPONA. My investment is HEAVY. Next year I should be able to venture in the four figure arena more.

Well I've been eyeing the Blusound Vault, the Cambridge 851N, then I get a e mail from Audio Advisor selling some of these at a demo discount. I was just wondering if anyone has one of these and if so what are your thoughts? I guess the SACD playback isn't much of a concern as I have a few players that handle that format. I'm now interested in this for its streaming capabilities. I plan on checking out all the streamers at Apoxna next month, but they got a good price on these at AA.

Go another route for streaming only. The HEOS app leaves much to be desired.

I lost a few bucks returning an NA 6005. It was worth it. I hope they got their streaming **** together.
