A quick teaser before the yahoos show up tomorrow

So I installed some in-walls in the basement.
Before anybody gets some smart assed comments...
1.) The chairs do not need to be turned around. They are on swivel bases and are meant to be facing the way they are. Not everyone who comes over wants to watch a movie. This is an entertainment space and I need flexibility. The chairs slide on the carpet easily and as you can see in one picture, they can be turned around easily to view the screen.
2.) Yes, the speakers are high. This is a basement and as with all basements, there's is a water damage risk. Placement has to consider that. Besides, in-walls are typically a compromise no matter how you cut it. The reason I went with the in-walls I did was because I knew I was putting them high and I knew off-axis response would be a critical factor. I've been playing these for hours the past few days and the sound stage is well formed from any seat in the room. With the ceiling being low, the directional speakers (stereo pair, surrounds) being close to the ceiling, the inevitable reflections are not as pronounced, oddly enough. I get more from the odd wall shapes than anything. All dialog emanates from the center of the TV too. Besides, go to a movie theater and look at where the speakers are. This setup actually mimics a movie theater pretty well. That's the point of a home theater anyway.

I'm sure folks will be jabbering about it after this weekend, though.
BTW, that DSW Pro 550wi...my top flight Polk Audio sub reference was the PSW1200 which was a stoopit amount of subwoofer for the money. This 550wi with it's slot loaded port has a tremendous amount of output for only 400 watts on a 10 inch woofer but it's clean and tight too. It's as good as if not better than the PSW1200. It really is a stellar subwoofer! The wireless feature is pretty awesome too!

Nice and clean setup for a multi purpose room. I like it.
Only thing different I'd do is to paint the grill covers to match your walls.

The grill covers will get painted, not enough time to do that between now and Saturday. I have to get the paint matched in a spray can or find a spray paint close enough that it won't show a big difference.
I don't know what "cubby" you are talking about. The gear is going in a rack that isn't set up yet that will be behind a door to another room to the left of these pictures. That's the next task to tackle in all of this is the rack. Again, no time before Saturday to get it completed so the gear is sitting on a wooden box for now.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

^I am sure you can get exact paint mixed at lowes/home depot and use rollers or spray can.
"cubby" I was referring to is the little closed closet you have on the right side of the TV. I thought you had your receiver and all other electronics there.

How high is the ceiling, if I may ask? -
The house is old (built in like 1954-56) and the ceilings are 7 feet every where in the basement. The rest of the house is 8 feet.
But the basement is actually shorter, like 6 feet 9 5/8ths of an inch because of the drop ceiling and the carpet tiles. I lose 3 and 3/8ths inches in height. Hence the reason the TV is so close to the ceiling. I didn't have much of a choice.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I got a text from a neighbor saying that the new speakers sounded great. I asked how he knew and he said he could hear it in his house. I said "Oh s#!%! I forgot the windows were open!" Then I turned it down and he texts me with "Aww, man! Don't turn it down now! I love that song!"

We were all in a euphoric stupor from all the great food and drink. Plus, we didn't want to hurt anyone's eyes with grotesque pictures of middle-aged men less comely than Hardy's current Avatar, lol
The media set up in John's basement was something to behold and also hear! A real homage to Polk in-wall speakers (I was pretty impressed with those). And, John had done a SUPERB job with the installation and set-up!
