power req'mnts for surround...
I'm planning on building a surround system with Rti8's front, csi3 or 5 center, and Rti4's rear (5.1) with a self powered sub. What kind of power avr can I get away with? No need to blast loud but want to have enuf power or appreciate the speakers. Will a HK230avr work? It only has 50W and 65W for stereo (just fronts).

You should be all right with that. I'd say it depends on the size of your room, but if you say you don't need to turn it up extremely loud you should be fine. My Denon receiver is 80w (I think) and goes way louder than I could ever use right now. I'd say get your receiver from some place with a nice return policy and try it out at home.Home:

Polk RTi28
Polk PSW-303

I agree. You're fine with what you have.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

harman kardon amps are conservatively rated. that receiver will be enough for you, even if you did wnt to blast it.
