Is it common to see gas lines freeze at -40 @dromunds ? All it would take is a tiny amount of water in the line.
  • dromundsdromunds Posts: 8,948
nah, we had days around -40. We were talking about how we used to get frozen gas lines in high school days - I seem to remember it was when I let the gas get really low in my tank despite my old man's admonitions - but somebody said the gasoline had additives now that fight that. I don't know but you rarely see it nowdays.

Stay safe brother! Michigan has been fighting to get some decent weather as of late. One day in the 70's followed by days of mid 50's. Today it was mid 40's in the morning, rain, and then the sun finally came out. Only hit 60 today. Ugh, Michigan!

Perfect today BUT darn we need some of that rain from the Midwest BAD!

I just heard tonight we might not see any rain for 7 more days. Already a dry spell. We were doing so GREAT getting good rain once a week early in the beginning of Spring.

Our lawns are depending on the morning DEW for moisture the past 2 or 3 weeks. :#

I'm watering some of my lawn by hand to keep it from turning to sand. It was doing so good. If I had a sprinkler system, I'd have a great lawn about now. I'm seriously thinking about putting in a sprinkler system myself asap. ;)

Another "gets the blood flowing" project to think about and plan for. It never ends. :D

In 2017 we had no rain for 85 days. Before my time in the 70s we had a year where we got 0 rain for 165 days.

Not to mention we are currently on a 21 year drought. Fun stuff!

99* for a couple of days now. :s In the 90s for a week or more too. No rain expected for another week! :s

I've started to water the grass to keep it from dying anymore. I think I saved a lot of it but also lost a lot. The back yard is turning into a sand lot except where there is shade. :# Even some shady areas have had a hard time letting grass grow.

We're going to hate the next water bill!

A mole has taken up residence in the front yard last night. I set out traps tonight. I should go check on the 2 traps in a minute.

Nothing yet BUT it looks like the critter is making more tunnel raises. :s
