You'll find the cost of a failed repair and new tweeters even more expensive. If you are unsuccessful with the repair, of course.

Perhaps look for a used working original?

  • I have found a local add with the following tweeter models:
    - Db3000
    - Dx3000
Will any of this work with my SDAs?
  • I believe both of those are car tweeters, so not compatible at all. You want either a used SL2000 or a new pair of RDO-194s (which would sound better).

Over and over again, it seems you keep mistake a pre-amp with an amp. I agree with what several others have already said- you are under powering these speakers- horribly. And stop mentioning other brand/models- again as others have said for tweeter replacements you Need SLs or RDO198s...headache

Mirceasy, you will not get by w/ just an AVR for 2Bs. I've told this story many times and I went out and got a Yamaha RX-V665 90wpc. Well it's not measured like that and when just using it as an AVR I was very disappointed, the thing clipped, went into protection mode and thankfully came back. I did have pre-outs on this AVR and under the tutelage of people here in the know said to get a common ground separate power amplifier w/ more than 100wpc. I wound up w/ an Adcom GFA-555 w/ 200wpc and made the Yamaha the pre/amp before I totally went to 2 chl. Any of your AVR choices should have pre-outs for this purpose and you will have enough power to do your H/T thing and have an option to go 2 chl. There are many amps out there and my source after hearing from these guys was to go w/ the Adcom for $300 from Audio Classics which came extremely clean and w/ a spec sheet that gave it a better rating than factory specs. 205a side.
No affiliation just a customer based on reputation alone. As for tweeters going from SilverDome SL2000s to RDO-194s was an easy, inexpensive, and rewarding mod to do.

  • I managed to recoil the broken tweeter without noticing any obvious sound quality diferences between the formerly broken and the good one.
Even though I bought the Denon i still searched through the used amps adds every day.
Now I have the possiblity of buyng one of the two Carver amps :) at approximately the same price :
    - M-1.0t
    Or
    - A-400x
Which one whould you recommend for powering my SDA's and be used with the Denon preamp?

A-400 only because it is 10 yrs newer.
  • Personally I would keep looking.

Unfortunately, where I live (Europe - Ro) the amps market offer is pretty limited. I can find mostly german and japanese hardware. Also the available budget is around 100-150 bucks.
Given this speakers should I look more for vintage (20-25 years old) amps/int amps/receivers?

Not much of a budget. Europe is loaded with used gear, but not at that budget for amps. You might consider selling them if you can't afford to fix them or power them, and buy an 8 ohm speaker that will easily be driven by most receivers.
