What's wrong with people?!

Someone busted the side mirror on my car today. WTF ever happened to having some integrity and leaving a note with your contact info? /rant

Back a few years ago the same thing happened with the side mirror on my Ford Exploder. The guy left a note with all his info and an apology. I called him up to tell him not to worry about it, a sort of good karma for him for being honest.

Check eBay for replacement parts, if your rig is older than about 5years. Saved a ton on misc body parts to fix up my son's Ranger... I was AMAZED at how many parts are available, and at really good prices.

It's possible that the person wasn't even aware that it happened, stuff sticking out of the bed of a truck or a trailer might have done the damage. Or not.

Yep....my brother in-law had a problem with kids in his neighborhood knocking off mailboxes with a baseball bat.

So he made a pole and box out of steel and sunk it in the ground 3 feet with concrete around it. He only wished he could have seen that baseball bat come back and hit the little bastage in the face next time he tried.

We're at the lowest participation rate since 1978. Literally every year prior to that is below where we are now.

Sorry! One of my colleagues had her car sideswiped in the Boston area about a year ago. It was night and the external damage was not fully apparent but the perpetrator had damaged the suspension and bent the rods on that side of the car so it was NOT possible to drive.

Of course, having lived in NYC years ago, I've had plates stolen, my car broken into, and a car stolen! But, hey, that was Manhattan in the '80s! You kinda expect that if you park your car on the street.

    Hope your insurance covers that!

Now if only we could get the white collar boys on Wall Street to leave notes when they rape and pillage our accounts! Never happen!

I saw a Rockford Files episode once, where a guy hits Rockford's car in the parking lot, pulls out a note, writes something and leaves it under the windshield before driving off.

The note read "I just hit your car. People are watching. They think I am leaving you my name and number. I'm not".

I was stopped at a traffic light in DC in my first Boxster, when an old pick up in front of me hits his gas and BACKS UP, striking and damaging the front of my car.

Guy gets out, looks at the significant damage, and says to me "it's only a car". He was uninsured. I let him live. And paid the $500 deductible to get it fixed.

People fall all over the spectrum. CS Lewis once wrote (paraphrasing) "To be a man is enough to bow the head of the mightiest king in shame, and yet lift the head of the lowliest beggar in honor." But that guy and your coward/fleer are on the "dirtbag" side of the spectrum. :)

I'm the only one I know IRL that thinks like this. A lot of times when people ask me how I'm doing I respond "I woke up today, so it's off to a great start!" :)

Good observation, isn't that what todays society teaches though ?

Personal responsibility, morals, faith, honor, integrity.....words you probably won't hear on any college campus these days.

Instead they are taught to buck the system, how to work the system to their benefit. How to obtain things for free, use the victim mentality to their benefit, and cry wolf where none exists. How to use social media to demonize those who don't agree.

The last 2 paragraphs outline the differences between the world I grew up in, and todays. Not entirely of course, but a rough outline.
