Anyone ever use Airbnb??? in NYC???

I need to go to New York for a work conference, and I have a set limit for travel money for the year, so I would like to not have to blow my entire travel budget on this one trip. A colleague suggested Airbnb. I found a couple options that look good that have good reviews and are conveniently located and very reasonable. Anyone used this before?
