My new Polk Monitor 7's.

I just bought a pair of Monitor 7's off Craigslist in good/great condition for $100. A spare crossover (new I believe) and stands were also included. They look well taken care of except for some heavy piling on one grill, possibly from a cat. I have not purchased an amp/receiver yet so I haven't heard them since the demo.
These are my first Polks and I'm not sure where to begin i.e. finding manuals, checking each driver for flaws/hazards, figuring out the ohms, what a crossover is/does, etc. I also don't know whether these are 7, 7a, 7b, or 7c.
What are your thoughts?

hrm I'm gonna guess 7B or 7C with the production date on the crossover and the SL 2000 tweeters...I'd lean real close to B...but could be a C...
Well the crossover you see pictured hasn't ever been used in the speakers. It is the extra one that came with the CL deal. I was told the previous owner replaced one crossover already and most likely just ordered two. Does that change your thoughts on what model you think it is?
Thanks for the help. -
Looking at the build date and the bypass cap across the resistor it looks like a Monitor 7 Series II with the wrong tweeter. None of the other Monitor 7 schematics show the bypass cap. The Series II schematic shows an approval date in March of 90 with the build date on the crossover in August of 90

Nice speakers, 7B's or C's. Try one of these to remove the fuzz off the grill fabric. Sometimes a stiff nylon brush might work. A damp brush will clean the cloth very well, but do not get the particle board grill cover frame too wet, it will warp.

Great sounding speakers, at least my pair were. (7c's) recommend as much power as you can afford as the polk brand like lots of power. 200w to start if you really want them to perform at there full potential. With clean power they will surprise you.Main Rig:

Your set is in better shape than the 7s I got last week. I paid $60 w/ the Peerless tweeters and the outboard fuse holders. Born on date said '78 and
they cleaned up very nicely and I've already dynamatted the drivers/passives and recovered the grills which looked like a cat did get to them. While they do like power you certainly do not need 200wpc as the 2Bs do.100wpc of clean amp power and not avr rated power will do you just fine.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
