Feeler: Vr3 Modded LSi9's and LSiC, Adcom GFA-5500

Evening fellow Polkies, would anyone be interested in modded LSi9's and Center? My 9's have the Fortress Level Plus modification and the LSiC is Fortress Level. Cherry 9's, the center is black and both are in great condition...not a scratch. I am very meticulous with my gear and respect my passion. I have always tried to maintain that because of the purchases I have made from other enthusiasts. Respect the gear, everyone appreciates and enjoys! Original boxes for both, I am willing to ship but each speaker weighs an additional 7-10 lbs. I understand that cost may be an issue but well packed speakers and non negotiable insurance to some zip codes isn't cheap! I am located in Durham, NC 27713. I would rather sell the speakers as a set, may not be obvious as to why but I believe the owner will experience much more enjoyment with all three as I have. I would argue that a fair price for the set is $2100 + shipping, considering the cost of the mods and the condition of the speakers.
I also understand the possible concern for the lack of feedback on the forum but I have many great references. Ebay username is btown1895 with 100% and recent sales, A recent sale through Audiogon under btown1985 and many completed transactions within the Emotiva forum under btown1985...same name on almost all throughout because I have nothing to hide! Air Force active duty, I value my reputation and try to live with honesty and integrity.
Pictures can/will be provided if there is interest. Please message with questions and if I am off on value here, let me know and my pride can take it...with proof of course . Let the low-balling begin!
Thanks for looking!
Forget to add the bookshelf stands. I have a great pair of Sanus SF26 stands that will be included at the actual cost of shipping, $170 value. Very solid stands that were used for the LSi9's.
I also have the 2 channel Adcom GFA-5500 amplifier for sale as well at $550 plus shipping. Same condition and I am actually not sure I will sell but its here for possible interest.

I could be interested in the C but have no interest in the 9s as I have no use for them (I have 15s I would just upgrade)"Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Also, your price seems...exceedingly high.
Trey charges $800 for the mods (Fortress Plus) for the 9s and $330 for the C (Fortress). That's $1130.
Figure that the C goes for $200-$300 in stock form on the used market and the 9s go from $300-$500 and you are looking at $1920 max.
But that is at full asking price on the mods.
Honestly, a more realistic ballpark would be around $500 for the LSiC and $700-$800 for the 9s.
I am not trying to cr@p on your thread but the above reasons are probably why you haven't even gotten a nibble. As stated above, I would be interested in the C but considering I already have 2 of them and neither of them in stock form cost me more than $275, there would have to be a VERY compelling argument for me to spend well over the new price of the Fortress mod."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

The LSi series have been massively devalued in their stock form due to the new LSiM series. You can see folks that have sold the LSi 15's for 250, which is a MASSIVE drop in their value. The mod's add a nice value to the speaker, but your not going to get the full price of the mod's back out of them either as they have been used.
Also we tend to give each other price breaks here since we are kinda an extended family. As such if your wanting your asking price your not likely to get it from a regular here, not because the mod's and speakers are not good, but because your asking price is quite high for what folks here would pay.
Your best bet to get somewhere near the value your asking is going to be Craigslist, or eBay."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
You won't get it on CL or ebay either, because no one other than forum members will appreciate the sonic improvements avail due to mods or the extra $ value they would have over non modified LSi's. Nice speakers and best of luck with sale but it may take awhile to find the right buyer willing to shell out the money for them.

Wrote a whole paragraph but NVM. This isn't how our FM works.

Agreed. Might best be addressed in a PM. I have inadvertanly thread crapped and got called out on it. Well deserved and in retrospect, probably should have sent a PM.

Without this statement from the op, we would be thread crapping. With it, I consider it hard truth that can be taken for opinion. I wish him well in selling, but one must be realistic and realize that when you go to the expense of having the crossover's upgrades or even more significant mods such as some do with the big SDA's....well the money won't come back later. It's for your own enjoyment not as an investment.

Yes, every one **** down my throat for doing it.

I'm having to go through a similar situation too. You're going to have to take a massive hit, but those are some damn fine speakers and I wish you luck selling them here.

Although I personally may have been a little more discrete with them, I very much appreciate the comments and feedback. I have watched on various sites such as ebay, CL, etc and 9's in "fair" condition have been going for $550+. LSiC sales are not as plentiful but $200-300 with mods and condition just seems unrealistic. I understand the feel of the forum is that of family interactions and I can/do appreciate that. This forum is where all of this started for me back in 2006, along with a good friends intro to the A/V world! As such, just wanted to see them go to a good home...but not foster parents lol.
I am not in a hurry or strapped for the cash, just can't see letting them go for those figures. Would any of you do that?! I can't blame anyone for trying to get the best deal either, I would do the same. Pricing may be a tad high but not a 50% mark down. I will be patient and entertain questions, comments or offers for a while. Thanks again to all who reached out!

I think you misinterpreted what I said.
The LSi9s are, unfortunately, worth around $700-$800 with mods.
This is based on a lot of considerations not the least of which is that it is unusual for a pair of stock LSi9s to go for over $500.

As well as the Audiogon Audio BlueBook and my own personal observations.
The LSiC would be worth around $500 with mods as they typically go for $200-$300 in stock form.

Obviously, condition helps but doesn't add 50% value. The mods are great and do make one heck of a difference but again, they aren't worth what you paid for them. You would be lucky to get 50% out of the mods.
Again, I am seriously not trying to poopoo on your thread. But I think you are drastically overestimating the market.
Think of it this way...you can get 3 Kef LS50s for around your asking price and they are arguably one of the best speakers in their price range for music and HT. And that is new retail. How can you directly compete with that?"Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

That's exactly what I said to you! But you argued the value was around the 300 mark even with the mods.
But in all honesty folks Blake was a stellar guy to deal with. And I can honestly say the center was like new when I sold it to him. Not one scratch!

I can't blame you at all Blake. Hold out for the price you want, just wanted to make you aware it might take some time at your asking price.
Lord knows we've all had that piece of gear that we dont want to sell for dirt cheap "just" to move it along.
However at the end of the day its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and its unlikely you will find a buyer here at those price, however that doesn't mean that a buyer doesnt exist.
Best of luck, the speakers look gorgeous and I'm sure the mod's were quite a nice boost in performance."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)
