It think is pretty cool how something he did in his hitchhikers guide to the galaxy book and movie is left a mark on the net with his tell about the question to life, the universe and everything.

If you don't know about it, if you have a phone with Siri or even if you just google the ?

What is the meaning to Life, the universe & everything?

it will give you his answer :) I've had several people at work to do this with their phones and they got the biggest kick out of it:)

here is a you tube video someone took from the film.

Well thats just it..the book was a comedy... stupid British humor!

its sort of so stupid its funny...or so I thought and his fans :) people build a computer to answer the ultimate question and all its says is 42. that is kind of how the Hitchhikers guide books went. like the restaurant at the end of the universe where you eat dinner and watch the universe come to a end each night :)

there are people who people who did stupid research to say that 42 has meaning LOL...I'm just amazed at what it started.

Love all the books. The BBC Radio series was the best. The TV show was good and the latest movie was just ok. So the computer goes on to ask mankindafter they are all pissed off, "well, what actually is it"? To where mandkind answers, "you know, just everything". To that, Deep Thought says, " when you have a better understanding of what the question is, you will know what the answer means". So, mankind reluctantly asks "ok, then what is the ulitmate qquestion?" Deep Thought says he cant answer it, but can design an organic computer that can. Just so happens to be the Earth, which gets destroyed by the Vogons, to make way for a hyper express route through the star system, right before it finished running its program to deliver the ulitmate question! This is actually where the story begins. Any way, they have to build another Earth. Great stuff. Still have the vinyl of the BBC radio show. I listen now and then for kicks.

Audible.com has the old BBC radio show on audiobooks, it comes in 5 parts. I played it via a FM transmitter at work one day and 1 of the guys listen to all of it and really love it.

I also bought the DVD of the TV show, and even enjoyed the movie, still love the parts about Marvin, that dang Robot is the best part.

D Adams was an interesting guy who needed DEADLINES to write almost anything. There are stories of friends locking him up in his apartment for days, weeks so he would meet a writing deadline. I can REALLY identify with that.

Was a fan of the books and the film. Have seen the BBC series (low budget version). Too bad he died in his 50s. Probably still be entertaining us today and asking the BIG questions in a philosophically "comedic" context!

If anyone hasn't read it they should give it a try, its a wholly remarkable book!

In fact it was probably the most remarkable book ever to come out of the great publishing corp of Ursa Minor- of which no earth man had ever heard either. Not only is it wholly remarkable book, it is also a highly successful one - more popular then the Celestial Home Care Omnibus, better selling then Fifty three more thing to do in Zero Gravity, More controversial then Oolon Coluphid's trilogy of Philosophical blockbusters, Where god went wrong, More of God mistake & Who is this God person anyway?
In many of the more relaxed civilizations on the Outer Eastern Rim of the Galaxy, The Hitchhikers Guide has already supplanted the great Encyclopedia Galactica as the standard repository of all knowledge and wisdom.
