Love for the M12's

I was introduced to the Polk Audio "sound" early as a teen when my brothers Monitor 10Bs filled the air with open, clear music and tight bass. The first pair of speakers I bought were Monitor 5's Series 2 - circa 1992 (still jammin them btw). I have found this forum very helpful in answering loads of questions. Glad that I found you all.
I recently expanded my Polk collection with the purchase of original minty Monitor 12s Series 2 in black. First off, these speakers look great. With their large, deep cabinets & those quad MWs, 12" PW with everything in symmetry, they just scream sexy. The sound that flows from them is even sexier. Deep, deep lows that rattle windows, a mid range that separates the soundstage wonderfully, allowing every note to shine with no listener fatigue & the hi's off of the SL2500 are divine. I am rediscovering my music collection in a whole new way.
I will say that placement of the Monitor 12s is more important than any other speaker I have listened to. I found that I had to move them in from the back wall a bit to tame the bass. A slight toe in cleared them up even more.
I plan on upgrading these with new tweeters, upgraded XOs & sound dampening on the baskets & cabinet as well. The thought that these speakers can sound even better really has me excited. One question I have is if the RDO-198-1 looks like the SL2500? I looked for pics of them but was unable to find any that I knew were the RDOs. Thanks

The RDO-198 is the correct replacement tweeter for the SL 2500, which itself is a pretty good tweeter.

Never heard a pair of M12 but I remember drooling over a pair they had set up in the Spangdahlem BX in Germany. Good to see you are enjoying them!

    They are fine speakers.
I loved mine but way too big for my place that time.
I actually preferred them over SDA-2B's. They had more mid range that I wanted.

Thanks for the pic! I tried to upload some but they were too big. I'm gonna use mine for mains in my HT 5.1 with the Monitor 5's series 2 as the rears.
