Wow! I didn't think there would be much of a difference between these and the 38's, but I guess I was wrong. They sound friggin' great! I did have to trade in both pairs of my 38's to get these, but it was worth it. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the 38's back when CC puts them back on the shelf as "open box". That way I'll save even more money. lol. The only thing that sucks is that they were missing the metal spikes. All I got were the rubber feet. Also, could I set the 70's, and the CSi40 to "large". Would they be able to handle it? Thanks.

Congrats on the upgrade and good luck on getting the 38's back. Mind me asking if they were open box or NIB? I have been considering upgrading my 800i's, 600i's for 2 pair of the rti70's and my cs400i for a csi40 if I can find another one.

You can move the settings to large but why? Let your sub handle what it is made to handle and let the towers cary mids to high.

Thomas, the rubber feet should slide off with a good tug and expose the spikes.

Call Polk and ask them to send you a set of spikes. They'll send them out to you for free. That's exactly what I did last week. However, right now they're on backorder.

I wouldn't consider that an upgrade, I'd actually consider it a small step backwards, in both sound and build quality.

Well...I hate to be 3rd...but whatever...I agree with the previous two distinquished posters! You have a very nicely balanced and matched system. That rear center is an excellent speaker BTW ( I should know...I used to own it). The 70s are not an upgrade IMHO. Newer...yes. Better...doubtfull. If you've got the upgrade fever, you better start looking at the LSis if you are stayin with POLK.

I was wondering if anyone would suggest the 70's were not as impressive as the 800's. The main reason I was contemplating on changing was to get the 70's in back.

I have to admit I'm very happy with my current setup. I agree shack the 245i is a great speaker.

I'm currently working on getting the Yamaha RX-V1400 which I think will bring my polks to life.

Thanks for setting me straight. :D

    Guys,
I traded in my RTi100's for RTi70's at CC today. Turned the 100's in at the local store and ran down to Tallahassee to pick up NIB RTi70's. CC CS treated me very well. It cost me ~$35 for the trade "up". The RTi70's are still $199.95 each NIB. Tallahassee, Columbus (GA) and Newnan (GA) each have a NIB pair available for those interested.
    Regards,

They charged me for them! 26 bucks! I called them back and canceled.

They were open box. They're still going for $199 brand new. I emailed Polk about the floor spikes(before I knew you could just pull the rubber off), and they told me they would send me a set of spikes for free. So far, I'm loving the 70's. I think they're a huge improvment over the 38's. I'm hoping that CC will some 70's left at a good price by the time I get my tax money back, so I'll be able to pick up a pair to use as surrounds...
