Ruined a Kid's First Birthday

My wife has a dear friend at work. She had baby Emily approx. one year ago, and yesterday was the celebration. My wife is near godmother status to add a little more background. They must've spent $250,000 on this party to add a little more.

We walked into Emily's party and it was all fun, gaiety, and smiles until she got a look at me. From across the room she went right to auto-stinkeye with the lower lip starting to quiver. Then as soon as I opened my mouth, she let loose. At first everybody thought it was another guy who walked in with a really loud shirt at exactly the same time, but I knew better. Every time I was in the same room with her, the fun and games was over and she'd be spying me with one eye. The monster at the party. I smoked in the back yard for most of the afternoon. If they had any decent rum I would've been tempted to help them with that too.

Happy Birthday Em, many happy returns of the day

Since you admited to attending the Mothers concert during the 1971 fillmore east show back in 1971, I hope you didnt show up to the party wearing your old hippie garb from back then you know shorts, those hideous open toe sandals with the tire tread soles, a tattered and torn concert shirt from back in the day and unshaven. If so then you probably deserved the stinkeye, for petes sake George a childs first B-day means a lot to a Mother willing to spend $250,000 g's on such a glorious day, then smoking in front of them. I hope you get over the whole Stinkeye ordeal!

I haven't owned or worn a pair of sandals since I was old enough to say "I'm not wearing those." I have never bought a concert T. Shave every day. I'll admit to having a slight Rasputin/Attila the Hun thing going on, but it's not like people stop and point on the street or anything.

Hey, you can't be friends with everybody.

That was probably what it was then, I wouldn't worry about it, she's probably a forgiving person. I still picture you being the image in my description in some underground Record store, sporting a pony tucked in behind your shirt collar, talking about days gone by.
However you did look pretty clean cut in the Polk Fest pictures from last year:eek:

Sorry bout posting twice in your thread I'm just waiting for the I-pod to finish charging so I have some tunes when I walk the dogs!

It's not the look, George, it's the Old Spice aftershave and the Brylcreem. Use less than half a bottle next time. Remember, a little dab will do ya. Wear a shirt next time, too.

Maybe next time a cookie monster rub on tatoo is in order. Plus you could always make animals out of the balloons instead of those cheap chinese **** dolls. The worlds your oyster George.

It's never too early to start kids on an exposure to all forms of music, to be sure. But be aware, Mr. Grand, that not all kids (or even grownups) have the ability to appreciate Captain Beefheart. I still say that the Captain Beefheat "Trout Mask Replica" outfit you apparently wore to the BD party was in perfect taste and should have been warmly received.

The front cover isn't near as good as the back. Complete with troll under bridge.

I'm sure I got into some of the photos yesterday and it's a damn shame she's too young to be able to appreciate it down the road sometime.

Those of us who have met George in person find him to be quite the "Levendi" (To be in the presence of a handsome male. Derrived from the greek term Levendos meaning eye pleasing.). So this is just an anomaly the kid will probably outgrow!

    Geez. You got off easy!

I went to a birthday party at my ex's aunt's house and the 2 year old kid it was for saw me walk in the door, I handed him his present and said "Happy Birthday, pal!" He dropped the present and ran screaming from the room.

However, my friend has a 1 year old (just turned one) and every time I walk in the room that she's in, she starts giggling and doesn't stop until she can't see me anymore.
