Yes I am..a good engineer....always an exception to the rule. If that's such a great design why don't all the speaker companies make them that way. By the way ...aren't you going to burn in Polk Audio hell for worshipping a non Polk Audio speaker that goes against even their design practices?
I still own 5 pairs of Polk speakers and a few non Polk speakers. I enjoy them all. There are many others on this board who enjoy non Polk speakers also and it's all good. Nobody minds. What we do mind is attitudes like yours. You already know everything though so I know this is falling on deaf ears. Don let the door......... -

If it didn't matter about bass response why didn't the earlier speaker manufacturers put the woofer above the tweeter? Why oh why Yoda? Why are the woofers lower to floor level on the 703's, 705's, 707's?
lol this is laughable, but I'll bite:
take the 707 for example. It is a 51" high speaker, with the tweeter at about 45". The tweeter HAS to be at ear level. We've covered that. So, if you leave the tweeter at 45", and then put the other drivers above it, you're looking at a 90" tall loudspeaker. This is problematic for numerous reasons.
It is impractical to build a 7.5' tall speaker that has zero sonic advantages over a 4' tall speaker. The cabinet volume would now be greater than the engineers intended to use with those drivers, so you'd have to section off the bottom half, meaning that all the material used to build the bottom half would serve no purpose whatsoever. It would be twice as expensive, for no reason. It would be twice as large, for no reason. Most people would not buy an 8 foot tall speaker that offered no advantage over a 4 foot tall speaker but cost twice as much. A less expensive alternative would be to hang an existing 707 from the ceiling, but again, it's not practical considering that there are no sonic advantages.
The lower the frequency, the less it matters where on the cabinet the driver is located. They put the tweeter where they NEEDED to put it, and they put the other drivers where it was EASY to put them, working around the tweeter. I don't need to be a engineer to know that you don't spit rubbish without providing proof of your claims that you call fact. That applies to everything, not JUST this discussion. Don't threaten, back it up! No wonder why people are attacking you.
Even an electrical engineer can't provide scientific data that backs how humans can hear differences in many variables when applied to audio when scientific data says its just 1's, 0's, electrons... etc... -

Your intial question of weight and speaker stands seems a little dubious from an engineering standpoint. The UF 22's and UF 26's are rated for 35 lbs. The UF 30's & UF 34's are rated at 25 lbs. These are also steel tubes that are fillable. I doubt the steel suddenly becomes weaker / brittle by adding 4 inches decreasing the load carrying capacity by 10 lbs.
This is not a matter of holding weight, it's a matter of holding the weight and being stable. Meaning they feel the speakers at 35 lbs aren't as stable on the taller speaker stands. That much weight makes them top heavy and prone to tipping.
As suggested in one of the posts above, the speaker stands will easily hold the weight. To increase the stability fill them with steel shot or something and that should solve that issue.
