Just got back from CC and purchased the last pair of Polk RTi150's they had in the region for what seemed like an insane price. I paid $299 for each speaker and they threw in a CSI3 Center channel speaker for free.

My new SVS PC+ arrives tomorrow and I can't wait to hear the sound.

Thanks to all who helped me with my decision to make the switch.

    Dad-of-Sydney - your downstairs configuration:

    "Downstairs
    Front Polk RTi150, RTi38"

Does that mean you're using both - an RTi-38 sitting on top of an RTi150? If so, how are you wiring and amplifying the set? I'm intrigued....

I have a fairly long room so I hve the 150's 6' from center and the 38's 14 feet from center. My Sony has inputs for two pair of front speakers.

Cool. I'm using a stacked arrangement and as crazy as it may seem, it sounds wonderful to me. I'm bi-amping the RTi150s.

    SD,

Is your Sony handling the 150's OK? No offense, but seemingly stonger AVR's than it have overheated and shut down trying to handle the 150's solo, let alone a seond pair of speakers in parallel...

I was wondering the same thing. The RTi150 is truly a thing of beauty (IMHO), but it does take some juice run them safely.

BTW, Tour2ma, thanks for not laughing at my speaker set-up! :D

Why laugh? Cause you copied Sid? :D

My SRS's have eight mid-woofers and 4 tweets pre, so I can understand "more drivers". PLus anything that floats someone's audio boat is good by me...

Well, in deference to dear old Sid, i had been pondering that configuration before i even found Club Polk. When i heard that someone else had tried something similar, my ears perked up. I had originally picked up RTi100s, but was not satisfied with their upper end and midrange. I loved the "fullness" of the RTi150 but wanted something with more warmth in the midrange.

Gawd! Listen to me - i sound like a salesman!

My Sony is considered by many as the best receiver Sony has ever built. It is a tank. The receiver alone weighs 70 lbs and is easily handling the load, even at the higher limits with very little distoration.

I'm truely amazed at what this received can handle.
