What sub goes well with the moniter 70's for around 250$ or less.
I just got myself some monitor 70's(as many of you own or once own:cheesygrin:) and i love them a lot i'm only running them on a wimpy receiver Pioneer 521-K which can only do around 63 watts a channel with ACD. luckily i never Liston to music in 5 channels usually only 2.
i never go past 2/3 the max volume(its way to loud at that and its usually never that high) kinda lame but i also own a power reader and i'm always watching how much power my receiver is using and i can tell when it clip's from that(it goes from using 160 watts at 2/3 the volume to around 300+ watts with just a little more volume.
Either way sorry for the rant this is about a Sub woofer since i have my monitor 70's in full range right now. and with the limited amount of power its kinda lacking in the bass which i blame on the receiver not the speakers. I plan on getting a class D3 amp with pioneer someday but right now i just don't have that kind of money, plus i'm gonna buy a CS2 center(125$ or less on newegg sometimes) and moniter 30's(around 100$)back.
Either way for 250$ what would you guys recommend? I'm planing on doing a 80hz crossover for all my speakers when i get my sub and i have to wait a couple of years for a new receiver(i'm the only one who uses it so the volume will be controlled)
I was looking at the 505 Polk audio Sub and the Bic F12 Sub can't decide between the 2 i like tight bass if that counts.
I use this system for 50% Music and 50% movies/Games
Also to be fair to this receiver it only costed me 135$ and the mids do sound nice on these speakers very impressedthe 70's sound this good with such little power can't wait to give these guys their own Amp or at least a new receiver. I got these 70's for 300$ a pair their was no way i was turning that down. Polk has the best deals around and their sound quality is quite good way better then other store shelf products.(someone needs to kick me and tell me to stock gushing up like a little school girl)
sorry to keep going off topic but my uncle told me Polk had some fantastic products back in the 70's as well he toldme they were 1/3 the price of their competitors and sounded amazing. Wish i was lucky enough to hear them, i'm into lame music like country and yes even jazz and classical. but i also like some Norah Jones and Celine Dion so as you can tell i'm into clear not loud and not overwhelming bass.

I think your best bet is the Psw505, it should pair nicely but i've heard good things about the Bic as well.

The 505 is more so a HT sub. Real tight low bass for music is not it's thing. Haven't heard the Bic so can't comment. Your budget for a sub leaves you somewhat on the lower end of the scale of subwoofers so don't expect too much. If you go used, you may find a better one for that coin. Polks line of micro-pro subs or DSW line are much more tuned for music than the PSW line.HT SYSTEM-

Hey i agree but do you or someone else think they might be able to help me a bit on finding a sub for around that price? Kinda hate my budget thinking i should hold off on the CS2 and monitor 30's and get a better Sub then i could do probably 400$. I just want a nice tight sub.Pioneer 521-K

I'm running 4 Monitor 70's with 2 PSW505's , a Marantz SR8500 receiver,and music quality with the subs is not a problem for me.
You have to play with the set-up quite a bit. It took me about 3 days on and off to get mine sounding excellent.
If your receiver menu allows you to set your monitors to small, do that. That will provide most of you receivers power to the mid and hi frequencies to the monitors.
The sub will take care of the lows. I used to run only one of these subs, and it sounded good. If you can swing it, buy 2 because it makes a world of difference, and you won't have to have the 1 sub cranked up! -
Yeah sounds like a good idea i want a musical sub though but i'm probably going to save more money luckily even with 80 watts per channel in stereo these speakers rock i just want more bass in the 20-50hz range.Pioneer 521-K
