Congrats man, I dig my Focus 20/20's and they aren't leaving anytime soon. Hope those empires sound great, we may turn you into a Legacy fan yet. If any of you cruise their website, their inwalls, surrounds, subs.....just sick man. Not cheap, but definately gives you something to drool over and cruise the used markets for.

They were on the marekt for a year? Crazy, where abouts are you located?

I always loved the look of these and I like Legacy for their sound (from what I remember when I heard them long ago) and never hear anything but praise for them.

    Congrats and post some pics!

Hard times on some folks, but he was too high in price to begin with, as these are rare, per someone I spoke to at Legacy, maybe oly 8 pair were ever delivered . . . . It's kind of a bummer, with him being down on his luck . . .

    Here ya go !

It's was a cold ride home with the Empires being in the back of the PU. I wont fire them up until tomorrow. For now, cosmetically, they're a solid 8.5 - 9 outta 10. There are 2 spots where the grill cloth is a little loose and I don know how to tighten it up, cuz where it's loose, it's not accessible (I think)

So the specs on the Empires is this:
4 way speaker with 6 drivers
    4 ohms
    Sensitivity 95 dB@2.83V/1m
    Freak . . . . . 38Hz - 25,000

I am hoping the good Adcom 5802 can "burn the house down"

Get this, the cr?me de la cr?me is that it came with the Legacy Broadway center channel!!! (and some ancillary cables PBJ, Illuminati, and ~30 ft S cable)

Wow man, nice score. I think the Broadway is their entry level center, but still a nice one anyway. Should sound good all together. Now your gonna want to upgrade everything else. Tell ya what, those few tube integrateds that flew around the FM would have sounded wounderfull on these puppies. Tubes and Legacy speaks go pretty darn good together. Let us know how you like them.

I forsee some Focus HD's in your future with the Empires as surrounds.....what a kick **** system that would be. Enjoy bro. I'm stoked for ya !!

I'm not so sure about that, Tony. I think the Broadway was the matched center for the Empires. This set has been for sale for a long time, and I had done a bunch of tlking wit Legacy, and it is my understanding that this center (a handful were made) and the less than 10 sets of Empires ever produced were the only ones to use those drivers (from some German company I cannot remember), which is ultimately the reason I did not buy them. They likely sound fantastic, as Legacy can do no wrong, it seems. I know you are already aware that is the case, tony.

btw, I demoed the focus SE and Signature SE back to back, and for a Music only system, I prefer the Sig. That new mid range driver is a thing of beauty. I'm curious to see iff they pass on the AMT from the Aerius on down the line in the future.

In previous threads I've asked for guidance, and Tony has been very helpfull/insightfuly (Thanks Bro.). . . yes VERY low production on these Empires (less than 10 pairs ever made), I felt my Risk/Reward was OK based on the sale price and the very low use of the Empire (used 5 yrs and in storage 5yrs) plus the center speaker at No Charge

All told MSRP on the Empires $6250 and the center channel $1250 . . .

    total purchase price . . . under a G . . . priceless . . .

this leaves me room for VR3 mods, TREY? got my #

Listen to them awhile my friend before commiting to mods. You got a hell of deal there dude. I really dig how Legacy voices their speakers. They sound good with any kind of music you throw at them, and are not as picky on placement as some others Like Maggies or Logans. They do sound better the more room you give them to breath though. Not to mention Bill is just a down right nice guy to talk to and knows his stuff.

Their Phantom surrounds are a thing of beauty too, been lusting over those for awhile. Can you imagine a pair of their Goliath subs, it would probably push your couch back a few feet.....and your wallet into the last century.

C'mon man, hook those puppies up, I'm just as stoked as you are, that Cary pre should sound awesome on these.

Glenn, for the price, it seems like a no-brainer. I am sure they are great.

Also, the Legacy house sound seems like a natural progression for those who like Polk. They also share huge bang for the buck.

Well, either he's still spinning the last of his 500+ cd's, or he's chasing down the guy who sold them to him.
