I need help!! Tonight i'm going to purchase either the lsi 15's or 25's. The problem is that i don't know which ones i should buy. I don't need the 25's for bass. Because i have two velodyne hgs 18's. I guess i want them because they're slightly bigger than the 15's. Also the 25's are brand new in box direct from polk (1299.00). The 15's are refurbs from polk for (849.00). My question is minus the powered sub, do the 25's sound better than the 15's? Or are they about the same? Fellow polk fans i need your help!!!!!

Buy the 15's...if you have subs already, you need nothing else.

I guess you've already bought the 25's, but I'd say get the 15's...or better yet get the 9's since you have those subs.

What are you using for power? PSOVLSK may be right with the 9's depending on the rest of your gear.

Probably depends on your end goal. Are you planning to use them more for music or movies?

I havn't heard the 25's, but have read that the 'sub' is the weakest point. If you already have two subs the 9's may be the best option. Although, it kinda sounds like you're looking for larger speakers for asthetics.

The 15's are the better purchase of the 15's or 25's. I own the 15's myself and dont feel I would miss the 25's. The sub in the 15's can be upgraded to be a better sub and overall they just work better IMHO.

You will need external amplification for any of the LSi series speakers however.

Personally given that you have subs that are more than capable down low, I would go with the 9's as stated and save yourself some cash. The 15's and even the 25's aren't going to do any better of a job (or really help out) your subs. Its not that they cant, its that your subs are more than adequate for the 40hz and below stuff and the 9's dig more than deep enough to ensure a good frequency response as is.

You could honestly even get away with the 7's, but I would go with the 9's on Skylan stands and your good to go.

LSi15, easy. The subwoofer in it can be drop in modded with a db series car subwoofer that will improve bass response quite nicely. The LSi25 is not a very good loudspeaker and the built-in subwoofer in it is just plain awful. The design tried too hard and fails.

There are not many companies that have ever really done a built in, powered or otherwise and Polk didn't until the LSiM series.

Since you already have two Velodyne 18" subs I think the Lsi25's are easily over kill, and I'm not sure it isn't still with the Lsi15s. I have two Lsi9's (which is the top section of the 15's and 25's you're considering) with two micropro 4000's which are a step down from the velos you have. My setup kills, and the low end is awesome! I can't imagine having the extra bass of even the Lsi15's. Seems unnecessary. Good luck!

Just got a set of 25s and couldn't be happier. It's a great way to "hide" subs if you've got a wife that will at least let you get giant speakers. I might actually get another set of 25s while the prices are so great. I auditioned 25s and 15s and basically for 150 more each you get a powered sub. Also I liked the sound of the 25s better. I really don't know why except to say it sounded more "full".

Go with the 9's if you have good stands for them. Go with the 15's if you don't, built in stands.
