hello all. i am asking for helpful tips on maintaining my sda2b's. i polish the tops every other day and i probably should find out what else i should be doing. is there things i should do to maintain the drivers. to keep them from drying or things like that. ive never had issues with others speakers ive owned, but dont want too also.i got them awhile ago from original owner who stated they hadnt been used much. . i thought this would be the place to ask.what work good for cleaning/polishing/maintaining inside and things like that. thanks for any tips

You polish them, every day? Really?
Mine have been in storage for a few months, haven't done a thing to them.
Firstly, the surrounds are rubber so you don't have to do much there. You might want to open them up, get some JB weld and spot expoxy the mid-drivers in three or more spots so that your magnets don't ever shift or fall off. A problem often seen when "moving" or trying to ship SDAs.
Other than that. You can search for the usual; crossover upgrades and replacing caps, etc. Checking the integrity of the air seal and using mortite or something else. Many use dynamat on the passive and other speaker baskets, and so on.
Oh, and if you don't have the new RD-019X replacement tweeters. That is, if you're still running SL-2000 or 2500s, etc. You might want to call Polk and get those newer drop in silk dome tweeter replacements!
With SDAs it's NOT so much about their exterior (although people do treat that--I don't) it's more about keeping up the interior which is more important for "how" they sound.
Having said that, I should point out that I am "notoriously" lazy and haven't done anything I mention above. I'm just NOT a DIY kind a guy. I might JB weld at some point because I don't want dead drivers! And I'll probably recap when my speakers are shot to ****. Or, rather, "someone" else will do that for "me"!
But if you have the skills, do a search and think about some of the above. It will only help. There, "I" said it!

What cnh said.
There's lots of info here on CP in the Vintage Speakers and DIY Mods sections on how to do all that stuff, recommended parts etc.
The search engine is a little tricky to use, but it works. After doing some research, post specific questions. Lots of knowledgeable folks here that are willing to help.
Check my signature - I've done just about all the mods. Stop polishing the damn things, not needed.
