Came across Grant Fidelity's website and was wondering about the quality of these, especially compared to NOS like RCA cleartops. Love the cleartops for their smoothness, soundstage and balance top to bottom.

Also, is it worth it to buy the super premium versions - are they noticeably better? Price difference is only $16/pair.

Intended use is in Odyssey Candela linestage.

Thanks!

    No one uses these?

Looks like I may have to be the first. My "gold"standard is NOS RCA clear tops - they'll have to go a ways to top 'em.

I doubt they will. Doesn't mean they are not a nice tube though

I have owned both Psvane and Treasure tubes in multiple amps and I feel they are the best new production tubes made, that rival most NOS tubes.

I use Psvane Treasures in my C2300 preamp (12AX7 variety). These beat out Gold Lion reissues and some Tele smooth plates.

They were recently recommended to me by Marc Prylli of JoLida, China (jolida.net, not jolida.com) as "the best current production and even better than lot of NOS".

There have been a few threads around here on the topic if you search a bit. I think I've read somewhere that PSVANE is pronounced "Pav anne". Not sure about that, though. ...

I use the Psvane 12AU7's in my amp and liked them better than the clear tops as well as NOS Amperex.

Interesting -Looks like I should give them a try. The clear tops presently in my linestage are intermittantly microphonic. It's annoying, though I can't tell that SQ is being affected. Only have maybe 300 hours on them, and they were supposed to be NOS.

I cant speak for the Psvanes because i have never heard them but i did own a Candela. i tried Mullard 4003's, CBS Hytron 5813's and Amperex Holland 7316 PQ Long plate D getter's. i did not care for the Mullards that much. the CBS/Hytron 5813's were excellent in the Candela. the 7316 PQ's are the best sounding 12AU7 Varient i have ever heard but they are crazy expensive.try to find a pair CBS /Hytron 5813's on Ebay for a reasonable Price and check them out....WCW III

I use Psvane 12AT7's in my Dared SL2000a preamp and like them very much. They bettered a slew of NOS tubes to include Mullard, Telefunken, GE, and RCA.

Hey WW, I've read some of your posts on the Odyssey section of Audiocircle. Didn't realize you're also a member of CP. As I recall, you loved your Odyssey stuff - what caused you to move on to other equipment?

Agree that the Amperex 7316's are the best 12AU7/varient I've heard as well. Never heard the Psvanes though either. Have heard the Candella, but not sure what tubes the person that owned it had in it. Fred, I own another pair of 7316's if you are interested in them. They are labeled HP, but are clearly Amperex 7316 and have the Amperex date codes clearly marked on them. Since they are lebeled HP, I will sell them cheaper than what Amperex labeled ones will go for. Please PM me if you are interested.

I use the psvane's in my Jolida player. they are a world of difference from the stock tubes.

warmer, softer and all around more detailed.

    highly recommended

I just put a pair of Psvane 12ax7 in my Jolida DAC and I like them. They are still burning in and have had a different sound the few time I have listen to them. Probably another 20-30 hours An I should be there.

I had all Odyssey gear for a long time.after i started using tube preamplifiers i put my SS Tempest in storage .i sold my Mono Extreme SE's after i started playing with tube power amps. when Alex G designed the Candela i shelved my BAT VK3i and put a Candela in my system and i liked it alot in fact i had the first remote controlled Candela ever made. i lost my Candela and many other pieces of gear in the house fire and since then i have been all over the map.i like single ended and push pull tube power amps and both nine pin and octal tube preamps.i really like tube integrateds with well made power supplys. TUBES RULE !
