Fxi's stand and height, discussion not question :-)
As you' ll know the web is full of advices, from ear height to 6' high. But I did not found anything that relates the height to the room size, which will be instrumental in the sound stage. Its different when you talk of placing a surround at 6' on a 20 feet wide room and different for a 10 feet wide room.
My ear height is 36", so If I go 2 feet above that it is 60", but is this the base of the surround speaker or the height for the driver/tweeter.
I found 2 stands (42" height) that will bring the driver/tweeter height to about (50") that is 1 feet above my ear level. Considering the width of my room is 14 feet, will this be enough for a good surround placement.
Would like to know how many of you are listening surrounds 5.1 at ear height or little above that but below 6 feet

I have a 15' by 12' room. My rears are a pair of FXi300's. They are in a wall mounted bracket approx. 48" high and angled down to the listening position which is roughly 34". They sound great to me and i have no complaints. I have them clamped at front of the bracket and then cable tied to the base of the bracket through the wall mount on the rear of the speaker.Shawn

Ideal listening position IMO is having the middle of the speaker at ear level. However, in my case and many others, it just isnt possible. I find that having my speakers where they are and angled as well as manually calibrating the system works very well for me.Shawn

So I understand from your reply that these 42" stands will work fine too. At the most I will have to angle them towards my seating position of the sound stage goes too high from the surrounds.Polk RTi12
