Two Polk LSi7's as a center channel
I know some of you have tried it. They would be powered with a HK 3490.

I would definitely not try that with that receiver...
Edit: I'm a little confused, do you want to run preouts from your Onkyo to the HK and use the HK as an amp for the center channel(s)? If so I suppose it would work. Others will chime in no doubt...
Yes. RCA splitter to the the HK 3490.AVR-Onkyo TX-NR808

I own the HK 3490. Since the price of the LSiC is pretty high I was wondering if the LSi7's would be a good choice for a few more dollars. Just looking for my best option for the center channel, including how it would it would sound.AVR-Onkyo TX-NR808

What kind of load would that be on the center channel? Those are already 4 ohm.

Same load. I would be using a RCA splitter from the center channel pre-out on the back of my Onkyo 808 and the HK 3490 would be the amp. One channel for each speaker.AVR-Onkyo TX-NR808
