Hey all, I just ordered a Emotiva XPA-3 to power my 70s and my CS2 (which i also just ordered today). Now I'm looking at cable to hook it up with, I'm looking on Monoprice at some RCA to XLR cables, are these worth getting or should i just go RCA to RCA?

Look into blue jean or signal cables.

I purchased my speaker wire (the makings for anyway) from them (blue jeans) last week and I was happy with their product so I went ahead and purchased their multichannel cable for the amp. In the last week I think I spent upwards of 1200 on my home theater... which is quite a bit for a 25 year old... At this point I just want to get a power conditioner and I think I will be set for quite a while. It's nice to splurge on a hobby every now and then.

Hey, you're making decent decisions. At least you're not spending your cash on meth !!!!

I second this. I have Blue Jeans cables/wires in my system and love them. The prices are really fair and the ship really fast.

I will third this. I like my Signal Cables lots. ONLY thing I will say is if your getting interconnects, spend the money on the bullet plugs. My Analog 2's were a very tight fit on my amp and pre (not that its a really bad thing) which makes switching/moving things a bit hard. The bullet plugs from my understanding come right off with no problems.

So i have a pretty n00b question to ask, but once i receive the amp and all the cable and all that, would it be a bad idea to hook up one of my fronts to the amp and the other to the receiver to get a good comparison? I don't see why it would, but it's always good to be sure...

I had a set when they first came out.
Speaking of the bullet plugs only.
They may be different now, but I can't say I was impressed.
    I sold them pretty quick.
Seemed a little stale/flat/thin to me.
Naturally, that is just my opinion.
They have a large following, and I am sure there is some merit involved with that.

If you do use them, you can heat them with a hairdryer/heatgun to seat them better to your rca inputs.
I am referring to the plugs only and not Signal Cable.
Excellent design, just did not translate to "excellent sound" for me at least.
    YMMV.

My opinion amounts to squat, but I thought I would share my experience.
