Haha.. that's the point I'm trying to make. I don't mind spending the money "if" it's really going to be that big of a difference. I'd like to run the 70's / CS2 but if my receiver will not power them properly then I'll hold off. I'm going to stick with the CS1 and 30's. I just need to decide between the 40's and 60's. They both have their plus and minuses for me.

Going back to this. I think I've decided on the M60's and M30's.. still debating on the CS1 or CS2.. how much room does there need to be behind the center channel? I think I have around 12-14" from the front of the mantle to the back where the stone wall for the fireplace is.

Also, if I have the M60's sitting at ear level, wouldn't the center channel blend properly if I aim it down towards ear level? Right now my current center plays above our heads (as does the L/R). It doesn't sound bad at all, just not ideal.

Really think you will be better served w/ the CS2. Again I've used both in my system and it's a no brainer w/ the small differance in $. Check polks site or newegg for dimensions. A quick measure of mine in cabinet is 12" deep.

Here is link to site with specs--

How much clearance does it need behind the speakers? I know the M40's were recommended to have 8-10" between them and the wall.

on the link I provided, it mentions the port in the overview part but doesn't specify how much clearance. I don't think you need much as some people mount on shelf below a mounted tv. In my application I might have 3 or 4 inches behind it and have not had any issues. You really can over analyze this but it's pretty simple - just get it and see only your ears can tell you how it sounds in you layout.

I attempted to demo some speakers today.. I first went to Best Buy.. They had both sets I was basically looking at. The TSI series is pretty much the same as the Monitor II's correct? I wanted to hear those as well as the Klipsch Synergy line as I go back and forth between the two. The only person working at Best Buy that even attempted to help me was their DirecTv specialist. Waited around for around 20 minutes and the wife and kids were getting irritated so we left.

We then proceeded to hhgregg. They also had the same two sets of speakers and I had someone come right up to me. I explained I'm trying to decide between the two sets and I would like to demo them. We started off with the Polks. They sounded horrible. Although it could have had to do with the radio station they were attempting to play. You could almost make out the music from the static  I asked if they had another source of music or movies that I could hear on that set but they did not. So I then walked over to the Klipsch. They were above a tv playing Monster House. I know the movie well so I figured I could tell a lot from these speakers. I was wrong.. 10 minutes later the salesman still couldn't figure out why the speakers would play so I didn't even get to hear them. It really bummed me out.. I'm no where closer than I was before.. if anything I'm further away because hhgregg put a sour "static" taste in my mouth with the polks

How do places like that expect to sell speakers if they can't even demo them?

Well I ordered the CS2 and 30's while I decide on the fronts.. Talking to a guy on CL today and he has a CS1 that he'll give me for $30... Is the CS2 really worth the extra $100? I can't cancel the CS2 but I could send it back.

If I were you (which I'm not), I would buy the CS1 for $30 and try them both out for yourself. I don't think you would lose money selling the CS1 if you don't like it.

I'd have to agree that the center channel is definitely an area where you don't want to skimp.

I didn't bother picking up the CS1 so the CS2 is definitely staying. I also finally decided on my fronts. I picked up an open box M70 for $119 to the door last night so that settles that. Just need to wait for the other one to drop down a little lower than $200 now. I guess it's time to start looking for a new receiver

The 30's came in last night and I was happy with their sound for music. I can only imagine what the 70's will sound like
