Just bought a Panny BDT215 from Costco - $129 on sale.
You experienced Home theater guys, any tips for first time set up, updating firmware, things to avoid, etc.?
Thanks!

I have the 210; the same player but mine didn't come with an HDMI cable :-) I have the latest firmware installed and have no problems with it at all. I thought the touch-free sensor was a gimmick when I bought it but I find myself using it all the time. The only settings I remember changing/checking were the audio settings; bitstream vs. pcm. I think I stuck with bitstream. Also, if you pop in a dvd, push sub menu you get some other options for resolution that don't show up with blurays. I just tweaked them to my liking. I would also recommend a wired internet connection. I could notice a different with Netflix and Hulu on wireless vs. wired.

Thanks for the response.
At this point, not planning to stream but that may change. When I first connect it, will it connect itselt wirelessly to do the firmware update, prompt me to do it, etc. Just not sure what to expect and I've read the owner's manual is not really good.
Looking forward to watching true hi def. Reviews on this unit said audio/video quality is outstanding.
Do you use Viera? I have a Panny plasma too and was wondering how useful/ how much of a pita this is."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
You'll have to set up the wireless connection. I think wifi is the default. If a set up screen doesn't come on when you turn it on just go to network settings and select the simple/easy/quick set up...sorry, it's been a while since I set mine up and I don't remember all the set up screens. I do know that there is a guided network setup and a manual setup. The guided setup worked fine for me when I used it but I went back later and did the manual setup with a wired connection. The player will prompt you when there is a firmware update. There have been a few since I've had my player. The most recent one fixed some lag with the VieraCast.

Got it set up yesterday and used the WPS for a quick wireless connection. Worked like a charm. Downloaded the latest firmware and watched my only Blu-ray disc, The Bank Job. Great flick.
While the pic is a little clearer than cable HD, the audio is way better. Looking forward to watching more BR discs!"Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer
