Breaking in RTi12's and CSi5

Hello all,

3 questions:

1 - I just purchased a pair of RTi12's for my fronts and a CSi5 for my center and have them hooked up to a Pioneer SC05 (130 watt/channel, 7.1) receiver. I played a movie and turned them up a bit just to hear how they sounded but have been reading that these speakers need to be "broken in." For the past 20 hours, I have been playing music, NPR to be exact, which is talk radio and classical music at a fairly low volume, but audible. Am I doing the right thing, or should I do something different? How much longer should I keep doing this? And is it okay to take breaks between when I break them in, to give me receiver a rest, or even watch a movie at a regular volume?

2 - Do I have enough power with my Pioneer SC05 going to these speakers to sound good, or do I need to invest in an amplifier that can add some wattage to each channel and possibly bi-amp the fronts and center?

3 - Is "bi-amping" necessary with what I have? Would I really be able to discern a difference?

Many thanks to those who are able to respond and help. It is greatly appreciated.

-Luke

    Welcome to CP.

1: Just play your Polk's - no special music or volume to 'break' them in nor do you need to play them continuously, just play them.

2: Depends. If you listen at low to moderate volumes you should be fine. If your room is big and if you like to go loud the RTi12s would definitely benefit from a good external amp with 'oomph'.

    3: Nope. Maybe.

    Relax and enjoy!

H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music.
