Hi Guys,

This might be a stupid question but a friend of mine was asking me recently if running TL350's off of a Pio 1121 might overpower the speakers and damage. At first, I thought there's no such thing as too much power... but then I came back down to reality and if I remember correctly speakers are not meant to be constantly pushed to there watt limits in the case of the TL350 that would be 125W.

I've seen test figures for the VSX 52, which is basically the Elite version of the VSX 1121, and they suggested power output was in reality around 103 Watts with 5 channels driven.

http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/article/test-report-pioneer-elite-vsx-52-av-receiver?page=0,3 there it is.

What do you guys think?

TIA

It's only too much power if he runs the thing at full volume all the time. Having the extra headroom does not mean he has to use that extra headroom. In other words, there's no such thing as too much power. And when we're talking about receivers, that is especially true, as their wattage numbers are almost always unrealistically inflated.

lol! It's definitely not too much power, tell him not to worry, the power is just right where it needs to be and should be just about the perfect match for those speakers.
