I agree with Tony. If you have the cash to consider those amps, it's time for speaker upgrade. Only reason I haven't is replacing 5-7 speakers at once would bankrupt me.

He is not even getting the best sound out of his current speakers, so he certainly won't get the best out of new ones. He can keep the amp through all other upgrades to his system. People always spend more money getting new speakers rather than invest on getting the power to drive any speakers they have/get now & in the future. Why spend all that money & still not realize the full value of your purchase? This line of thinking has never made sense to me.

An amp would be fine if his receiver had preouts. So he wouldn't get anymore sound out of an amp cause it won't work with his current setup.

Upgrade your receiver to one with Preouts. More than likely it will be a 7.1 or 7.2 receiver but you don't need to use all the speaker outputs. Get a nice 2ch or 3ch amp from Parasound or the like and be very happy.

Monitor 60's sound better with a dedicated amp. Almost any speaker sounds better that way.

ok, so here's why... my cousin came by my house the other day and brought his Emotiva 150x2 amp over to show me what the 60's could sound like... it sounded so much better than just my receiver and that's why I am interested... For me, there's no need for high, high, high end gear... I just want to get the most out of what I have as cfrizz has stated...

    :)

    Cheers.

Before I jump the gun, is $437 shipped a good price for a Parasound HCA-1200 205 wpc? Condition 8/10

I'd say it's a great price which will pay you back in spades with years of operating your speakers to their full potential. I had a Parasound 1500A 205wpc amp which now drives my brothers LSI 7s beautifully.
