    Outside of the fact that there is speculation about particles that may be faster than light(not proven yet) I see no point to the joke. I have no doubt that the egg-heads amongst us might see the humor, so could one of those brainiacs please explain it for the unwashed masses?

    Like every physics joke I have heard, any funny that was there vanishes with explanation.

    The joke is that the punch line arrives before the set-up. If something can travel faster than light, it could arrive to you before you saw it leave (i.e. a catcher would catch a baseball thrown at faster than the speed of light before he saw it leave the pitchers hand).
