Hey guys ,I've been dealing w/ this issuse for quite some time and I'm wondering if there is any fix or it's the way it is. Now I fully understand that when something is filmed in HD and transmitted in HD it comes across as a full hd picture .The problem I'm having is when you get these black bars on either side of the screen or even worse it becomes a complete and surrounded box. Now adjusting aspect ratio one might say is a way to go but then I lose graphics on the true hd pictures. So is there any happy medium here or until everything is filmed in hd that's the way it is.For totall transparency my tv is Tosiba au37 maybe 3yrs old and have had no other technical problems w/ the set itself and cablevision is my provider.

that is called postage stamp when you have a picture surrounded by black bars. Most likely that is the way cablevision is transmitting to you. Does not sound like a TV thing.

thanks for the replys, I did call cablevision just to see if there was a solution and of course there was. My remote was set on fixed for picture format and then when changed to upvert I'm getting fullon views w/o any distortion. I can't beleive I put up w/ this for so long w/o at least talking to someone about it. Another problem solved....
