I just put together my first polk system, I have a Yamaha RX-V671 with mon 70 mains, CS2 center and mon 40's for surrounds. My CS2 and mon 40's sound very good, great highs, but the monitor 70's tweeters sound like they aren't even putting out any sound!!! Yes the jumpers are in place, i tried bi amping, everything!!!! Cant get any highs out of these monitor 70's!! I bought everything off of newegg, except for the monitor 70's, they came refurbished from polks ebay store. Is there something stupid I am not doing? Is there a crossover adjustment? Help!

First rule of adding new speakers , did you calibrate your speakers after you connected them ????

Didnt mean to sound snide, i have adjusted everything I can think of, there is virtually no chance both speakers would be defective would they?

First off, Stay Cool. This might be a problem you can fix yourself. But you have to think it through and if you're too excited you could make a mistake.

It's possible but not probable. It could be the shipping knocked some wiring loose in side the cabinet. You don't know how they handled those speakers during shipping.

Make sure all of your equipment is off and recheck the connections on the afflicted speakers. I know you have already checked, but check it again and be sure.

If you tried Bi wiring your speakers from the same AVR you have to go into the programming and make sure the AVR knows the front speakers are to be bi-wired.

yep, i tried them straight up, bi wired, set up, literally everything, switched them to the other channels. I pulled the tweeters and literally held them up to my ear, nothing. Not a peep. I wonder if the re-furbishers forgot to hook them up to the crossover? I guess I will pull them apart. Hrumph.

Since you're dismantling speakers try the tweeters in the 40's and see if they play. If they do it's not the tweeter.

Well, first of all, let me thank all of you for your help, and quick reply's! I am very sorry that I got a bit hot under the collar, but as you can imagine I was quite frustrated when I got everything together and I have defective speakers. Anyway, I did swap tweeters from the Monitor 40's, and guess what, they worked! Case closed, the tweeters in the Monitor 70's are dead, I am thinking that they must have just forgot to replace them, or something, because the chances I get 2 bad tweeters in a pair of speakers is a bit on the impossible side. Hopefully they will just allow me to send the tweeters back, and send me new ones, so I don't have to ship the whole cabinet!! Thanks again guys!!!

Unfortunately, that's probably not gonna happen. Good luck and hope you come to an equitable agreement with seller.

Decal, he said they are from Polk's eBay store, so he should be dealing direct with Polk. As such, they will most likely send him the tweeters since it is beneficial to both parties due to shipping costs. That, and Polk's CS is top notch.

Well if they are from the Polk ebay store...then they're under warranty and Polk will most 'definitely' send you replacements! Ask and you shall receive! Polk CS is the best!

    No worries there!

If nothing else could you swap speakers wires around at receiver which you feel work to speakers L/R which you feel don't. Let's rule out a setup problem vs. a speaker problem.
