hey guys and gals.
went to best buy today and they were offering the pioneer sc-37 open boxed for 950 (tax included) out the door. I was wondering what you guys thought. Im really sold on the receiver but is that a good price? how's the receiver as far as quality and reliability?
thanks again

Well it retails for $2200.00 , IMO it's the best 2200.00 receiver on the planet , it's completely feature packed and sounds close to entry level separates , yeah it's an awesome deal jump boy!!!!Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
Make sure they include the remote. Best Buy tends to misplace them.
You won't find anything better at that price.
yea that was one of the first things i asked if they had haha
but one of the good things, even with an open box, is that the warrenty from pioneer doesnt start till I buy it. And with an elite isnt it 4 years?
I know this is a stupid question, but other then the OBVIOUS, what are the upgrades from the 1020k to this? I know stupid but humor me haha I know the basics; pre outs, more watts, stuff like that. But Im not used to the elites.
Enlighten me ha

My Best Buy had an open box SC-37 without the remote or box for $879, I was in a hurry and came back the next morning and it was gone. I'd say that's a good deal if it includes everything. That's what i paid for my SC-35 and I don't regret it at all, in fact I sold my amp bc I didn't feel I needed it anymore.

I had an 1120 and the SC blows it away. You'll gain class D amps that actually put out 135wpc, vs your 1020 which puts out about 35 wpc with 5 channels driven. Better processor and Dac's, features aren't too much different but the sound is. -
Got mine for a grand complete with a Harmony 1100 remote because they lost the factory unit.

Had the 1020 which has the Anchor processor and the SC-35 has the Marvel. I thought the Marvel did better scaling with conventional DVD's
I was wrong the 1120 and SC-35 both have the Marvel....1020 has Anchor2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures
Desktop rig: LSi7, Polk 110sub, Dayens Ampino amp, W4S DAC/pre, Sonos, JRiver
Gear on standby: Melody 101 tube pre, Unison Research Simply Italy Integrated
Gone to new homes: (Matt Polk's)Threshold Stasis SA12e monoblocks, Pass XA30.5 amp, Usher MD2 speakers, Dynaudio C4 platinum speakers, Modwright LS100 (voltz), Simaudio 780D DAC

Ok guys, I put my mouth on the end of the gun and pulled the trigger haha
I ended up having to pay $989.19, best buy at their shady bests lol
I originally was going to get it for $950, then they couldnt find the remote. They tried to give me the same kind of remote that I have for my 1020k, I told them that the remote the COMES with the sc-37 has an LCD screen and NEW runs around $249 dollars. I knew they couldnt really do anything on the price anymore, but they had to do SOMETHING because I wasnt going to walk away with out the remote.
They needed the sale more then I needed to spend money haha
So I asked them if they could give me the remote for the floor model for the new sc-57, because I'm PRETTY sure it works with the sc-27. I'll have to post a different topic to get the answer on that. So the guy told me he couldnt give me the deal price of $950 because he was giving me the remote from the newer receiver. I didnt feel like arguing with him and reminding him THEY were the ones that lost the original remote, not me ha
So I told him that I would pay the original price as long as I got the remote and all the attachments that came along with it. They started to ring me up and said it was going to be close to $1100 dollars. I told them they had it wrong and that tax was included on the $989 to begin with. We went back and forth and I finally told him thats all I can spend was the original amount, so it wasnt my loss if I walked out the door a grand richer.
He finally caved in and sold me everything for $989.19, which I still think is a good deal. I still have to hook it up, and I have 30 days to return it for any reason. So if anythings busted or I dont like it, Im taking this **** back. Unless someone else wants to buy if Im selling.
Anyways, thanks again guys. I'm pretty sure I got everything with it, minus the original remote.
Had the microphone (i think its the same as the one I got with my 1020k), the power cord, and the remote. No attena, but I dont think that really matters.Home Theater Setup- Receiver - Onkyo TX-RZ1100
