Hi all,
Just received my new RTi12's and shopping for used good amp for them. Was seriously considering getting used Rotel RB 1080, but think I'd like more power. Read a good review on the Adcom 565 monobloc amps and liked the report. Does anyone have any experience with them. I'm really considering them pretty seriously. I've studyied most all the other amp reviews and browsing here on the forum. How do the monobloc's work with the 12's. Really want to be in the area of 300 watts instead of the 200 watts area. I have a big basement area so I need plenty of clean power. Thanks for your help.

I have a pair that I drive my SDA2bs with and love em.Plenty of clean power.
I did have to send them in for service a few years ago to EBC electronics because of the leaky cap issue and I havent had a problem since.I also bypassed the PS caps with some dayton 20uf and 1uf caps.
There great amps but do make sure they have been serviced so you dont have that issue because it will cost 400-500 to fix them.

A 555 will also drive those 12s very well.

200 watts is more than enough power. What's your budget?

Lets just call it an adjustable budget depending on what I can justify myself and talk the wife into. I'm retired, so am my own boss. I guess I would say, $500 to about $800 or so. Or I could go a little over that if I find the right 250-350 watt amp. I really like the amps that have balanced & unbalanced inputs, and also have the extra terminals for bi-wire. Like I said earlier, I have a large basement for these 12's, so I figure it won't hurt at all to have the extra power for those times when I want that whole orchestra on a final closing drive. I might add a sub down the road for the really low freq's, but for now will depend on the 12's for everything. Everybody seems to say that the 12's like to have plenty of clean power available if needed. Thanks for info.
