Hey guys, I'm new to speakers and could use some criticism and advice. I have been researching alot because I am living in my frat house next year and want to get a nice, LOUD speaker system. I am thinking about getting the PSW505 powered sub, the CS20 center speaker, and the monitor 40's as back speakers. I am gonna also be using an older reciever, which is a pioneer with 100 watts per channel. I was wondering if this is a good combination as far a speaker system, and anything else you would recommend. Thanks

What are you planning on using for fronts? I'd say that's an excellent system that isn't going to cost you an arm and a leg - but it seems you are missing the majority of the system there. lol

Frat House + Loud = Cerwin Vega speakers......

That is where my inexperience comes in lol I wasn't sure if that would be enough but that sounds like its not. If we got a pair of monitor 50's for our fronts and got rid of the monitor 40's would it be good? were not concerned about having surround sound, just a loud, quality system. and if you have any recommendations that would be great too, because we are definitely liking the psw505 and the cs20 center, but after that were not sure

    Is this for your room?

Most Frat houses that I have been in, space is really an issue for bedrooms. Mine had built in bunk type beds. For party music the "House" had a system.

My house bought Klipsch Hereseys, a commercial version with reinforced corners and carrying handles. Survived the 4 years I was in school and were still working fine.

Yah and lots of the guys had Cerwin Vegas in their rooms. On of my Frat Brothers and our DJ for parties had over 4000 vinyl LP's. After coming from a limited music family, it was an Eye Opener!

Yes it is for our own room, but I am not too concerned about space with floorstanding speakers because we do have enough room. I had never heard of Cerwin Vegas before though. Do you recommend any speakers that are within a good price budget like the polk speakers? I am flexible with speakers, but the sub is gonna be a psw 505 because of all the things I have heard about it for the price
