Well it seems like the process took forever, we've been at this since early March. But, we're finally all settled in the new place! We're in a condo in downtown Las Colinas (DFW area), wanted a change of pace and I'm now 3 minutes from the office!
She still has a few decorating things to finish up, but for the most part we're in. We moved in the Thursday before Memorial Day, that was the last cool day we had here, been 90 degrees and above every day since so we timed that perfectly. Moving into a condo sucks big time, lots more walking between truck and front door, using dollys is the key to success!
There's no dedicated theater or 2 channel room, but the living room works nicely for that. I was surprised at how well the SC-25 was able to auto-correct for the room layout, didn't make many changes at all and it sounds great. I will likely set up my Totems in the office, just gotta order a stand that will fit in that desk corner for the components, then the Totem will replace the computer speakers. I was going to use the Blackstone for that, but those are going in the bedroom per request of the wife.
Also, I know that some of you will have some concern seeing those wimpy speaker cables in the living room, don't worry those are getting replace as soon as i get the new AQ cables in this weekend!
I was taking pictures today cataloging all my gear for the insurance and snagged a few of the place itself and have those linked below. They aren't the best pics as I didn't take any time to set up good shots, but they give an idea of what the place looks like.

I like it! Congrats.

This isn't our first ceramic stove, if it's your first just be careful as they can scratch easily and make sure you get the right stuff to clean it with.

It is a very comfy chair, that couch is also reclining but I find myself in the chair unless I'm watching a movie or doing any serious listening...

cool place Danny.
Man I wish I was a little closer to you dfw folks. I would love to jam with you in that room. I'm an old has been that now mainly plays at church and for my kiddo, but its fun to actually play some rock in roll every now and then.
So do you roll without a sub? Is that a waf thing?Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Actually no, she could care less about having a sub. She lived with that giant SVS cylinder sub for years :-)
In that room those little PSBs actually load up fairly well. They don't dig really low or completely fulfill the LFE need for movies, but they're great for music and good enough for movies. It's amazing what a properly driven pair of bookshelfs can do in a medium sized room. -
A massive sub in an apartment/condo like that is not a good thing. The floors and walls aren't nearly as you can make a house and they transfer alot of energy. They end up just making everything rattle.
I had an iso-baric 4 driver sub running about 400 watts in my apartment. It dug real deep and shook alot of stuff but never really performed at the apartment. It overloaded the room, which was fairly large to begin with for an apartment and it just made things boomy.
When I moved in to the house, someone dropped teh sub and fired it up with test tones to test it in the basement and make sure it still worked. It was clean, tight and had lots of power sitting on that concrete floor. Night and day difference. The small Yammie sub I was using in the apartment gets lost in the huge basement but sounded great in the apartment.
A sonotube sub like that SVS cylinder you had is probably way more sub than you'd want in there. You'd be better off mounting bass shakers to the bottom of the couch and sticking with the small subs.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Mine's bigger....
Congrats bro. Yours is definitely furnished much nicer than mine will be for several years to come.
PS: That's one heck of a good-looking kitchen. I think we might have the same stove.
How big is your house? I went looking but couldn't find the square footage anywhere. It looks pretty substantial. At least 2,000 sq. ft. I think.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

This isn't your standard apartment setup. It's a steel and concrete condo building with 3 ft of concrete between floors, so I have some options for subs. The SVS obviously wouldn't be an option, but a small sub would work very well, I'm just not convinced yet that I need it.
I'm shocked at how well the sound is insulated. I've already met my neighbors on both sides and below me and have tested how loud I can crank it. I can get it up to levels I consider beyond listenable before you can really hear it from any of those places.
To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised at this. I was fully expecting it to be like my last place, but here I can actually crank it just like I did in the Frisco house.
The Totems are not set up yet, need to get a rack for the corner in the office that will hold the gear, then they're going to pull PC sound duty and music in that office, hopefully I'll get over to StarPower or Modia this weekend and find a rack that'll work otherwise I'll have to order something online. -

I should mention though that I'm alot less interested in HT than I am music. I'm fully aware that my PSBs alone are inadequate for a true home theater, but they are good enough for movies and are perfect for music in that room, IMO of course.

About 2,350.
Just so that statement isn't taken wrong, it was meant as a play on the thread title. I seem to get misinterpreted quite a bit, so just extinguishing a fire before it starts.
No, no flame war. Just interested, that's all.
Officially my house 1249 square feet of "living space". But the basement is finished so it's also "living space" but not according to the township. Which is fine with me because I only get taxed at the regular rate on "living space". The basement, even though it is finished, is taxed at a lower rate and adds less to the overall tax value than if the "living space" was the full 2500 square feet. Technicalities rule...sometimes!
Thankfully, the library I built in one of the spare bedrooms is not "permanent" because the shelving isn't installed on the wall. It's just anchored so it doesn't fall forward and crush children or something (think of the children!) which is apparently a building code requirement. Otherwise, even though they are floor to ceiling with crown molding, they are considered "furniture" and do not add taxable value to the house.
Again, technicalities rule...sometimes!
And having no upgrades is a good thing. It basically means that no one screwed them up before you got there and you're not stuck with something you really don't like/want. My house has minimal upgrades. Those only being an extra 1/2 bath, multi-car driveway, the finished basement and central A/C. The basement is beat and needs to be remodeled/refinished which I'm working on. The A/C is less than 5 years old, the bathroom in the basement will get redone with the rest of the basement and the driveway is a-ok.
All I've done so far is finished the garage off, pulled up the wall to wall carpeting which was apparently an "upgrade" over red oak wood floors and refinished those floors and upgraded my power service to 200 amp. I also added a ladder and large access to the attic as well as a "whole house" fan to run on days like today instead of running the A/C non-stop for months at a time. I have many more plans but the nice thing is that whatever I do, adds value to the property for me so not only do I get the benefit of having it how I want and getting to use/enjoy it but if I do move and sell this house, I get the financial benefit too from the increased value.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

We got a steal on this place, and the upgrades that are there happen to all be things we like, otherwise I agree with John and would rather do all those myself.

That is good if all of the upgrades comes at steal pricing especially if they match the family's taste. Generally I agree it is best to do the upgrade your self but one can't go wrong when the upgrades comes as bonus. :cool:DARE TO SOAR:
