Ordered too soon.... a case of upgrade-itis before I even had'em
With my speakers arriving every few days, I have found myself in a dilemma. I bought Monitor 30's from newegg and a CSIA4 center from polkdirect... and before the even arrived, I decided to upgrade.
Sounds ridiculous, but true. I ended up buying RTiA3's and a CSIA4. Unfortunately, both newegg and polkdirect have 15% restocking fees:frown: and of course there is return shipping. So, I'm going to take a hit, I guess.
Anyone have any keen ideas?

If your AVR supports wides/heights use the Monitor 30's for that, or for any type of surrounds you need (rear surrounds, side surrounds).
30's are about as easy as it gets to mount and hide due to their size."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
My AVR does not support heights, unfortunately... it's the model prior to that tech.
My surrounds are the FXi's and RTI4's.
I have an old pair RT15's (I think) that they could replace.. but I don't really see any point in doing that. Aside from that, I don't know what to do. -
How about you post them in the For Sale section? You could split the difference between what they are brand new, and how much you'd get back minus the restocking fee.
-
You could get a speaker selector switch and make a "zone 2" with them. Like for a bedroom or something and then just run them so that when you are in that room and want to play music you can have it and then when in the main room use the rti like normal.
or start a 2nd system lol -

I'm about 40 posts away from being able to sell them that way:rolleyes:
It has crossed my mind, though. I could sell them at a loss, but not as big of a loss as it will cost me to send them back.
The big question, is, though will I be able to (1) sell them and (2) sell them at a price that would achieve the above? -
Polk Audio has awesome customer service. I called and explained my pre-mature purchasing problem and they are working with me to get a full refund on my center channel.
Thank you, Polk.
Normally, I would suck it up and pay the 15% restocking fee... but I guess since I bought another polk product to replace this one, they are forgiving it.
So, that leaves me with the Monitor 30's. A far less costly problem! ;-) -
Nice.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Yeah, that is some fine customer service. I wonder if you went from the RTI's to the 30's if it would have worked out this way.... j/k merely the cynic in me
[The Ever-Evolving System
LSI15's (PNF Symphony cabels, modded X-Over and subs), LSIC, LSI7's, Rega Apollo CDP (PNF ICON ICs, modified PS cct.), Yamaha RXV-1700 w/ ipod dock, B&K REF200.2 (fronts) Samsung BDP-1600, XBOX360, Patriot Box Office Media Player, 42" Samsung LCD. -
I don't know the answer to that. I explained to them that te box would be returned unopened, also... Not sure, but I'd imagine the restock fees goes towards repacking items for resale?
At any rate, very nice if them to forgive! -
Polk has great customer service.
As others have said, look and see if you need/want music in any other room in the house (Garage, bedroom...) and you could put the M30's out there and just run wire from your AVR with your "Zone 2" output.
