A guy contacted me through an add I placed on Canuck Audio Mart. he is asking $750.00 for these. I know price is a relative term but what do you guys think?

Don't know how rare SDA's in Canada are but if they were in my area I'd off him around $500-$550. If they were in perfect condition I would pay $600-$650. Now if they were the TL's I'd pay up to $1000 in good condition.

$750 is on the high side, but not completely unreasonable especially if all the drivers work. A guy could hold out for 2.3TLs, but there's no guarantees there, either.

Doubly so if they're close enough that you don't have to pay for shipping.

You can't touch that sound quality for $2750 buying new speakers. In that sense, they're a bargain.

I'd be jealous if I had room for them. Maybe I'm jealous anyway.

Actually those look like RDO upgraded tweeters. If so $700 is good

Well a deal has been struck. I'm going to pay his asking price but he is willing to deliver.

The pictures show that he did.

I paid $800 for mine with the 194 upgrades. I considered that a great bargain!
I also drove 6 1/2 hours one way to get them. I am slowly collecting upgrade supplies for when the snow flies.

I think its a very reasonable price, especially considering the tweet upgrades.

That was a great price! Considering what you would have to pay to get something that sounds better.

I do have another question though. What is with the different mid drivers on the top and bottom, on the side with four. I notice some 2.3's have them and others don't.

So how did they deal with bass in the TL version of these speakers, through crossover changes or different drivers?

    Both.

The donut driver is a regular MW with the donut piece added to it to add weight and fix some sonic issues that position created. Later revisions changed the driver and the crossover for that position and for the frequencies coming out of the tweeters, so the donut was no longer needed.

Besides the wood and grill cosmetics, the drivers and tweeters themselves look to be in outstanding condition. They should sound great! I enjoy mine as mains in my home theater...

    Congrats!
